And so it begins...

For those of you who care...my first exam in Sociology was this morning from 9-12 and I did ok. I even wrote a rather long essay in Icelandic, that will probably defy the law of comprehensibility, but they made me do it! I drew little sketches on the side to clarify my point since writing in English was forbidden. And I am not one to let an opportunity to wish my teacher a very Merry Christmas go by ... so I did; in all languages that I know except English of course -wouldn't wanna break the rules! Now excuse me while I go and check up on my horses for the rest of the day:

Congratulations! One down...

Wow, I wish I could spend a morning at work then go play with horses... alas no. So please have an extra enjoyable afternoon, for all those of us trapped behind desks.

By sketches, you mean penguin cartoons?

Well done, Minka. Enjoy your time above the saddle.

There's nothing quite like a ride on a horse, of course.

Good for you! And the Christmas wishes will probably get you some brownie points, although I'm sure you don't need them. Have fun with the horses. :)

Morgan, play? It's tough work my friend, it is icy cold, the ground is frozen and your soemtimes you can't feel your fingers after a long ride...yeah it's fun.

Doug, well teh setches were diagrams an at one point I didn't know what-population-growth pyramid is in icelandic -probably something noone should try to even pronounce- so I frew one...stuff like that :)

Icy, I am sure you'd make a charming jockey. Problem in Iceland with you would be your whiteness. people'd think where is that saddle with the horse going? You'd blend right in :)

Theresa, I think teh Christmas wishes will earn me scorn, that's why I put them there. You see, I didn't get permission to write in English-for no apparent reason- so I am teasing the teachers a bit in my final exams :)

best of luck with all your exams. I'm glad to see you like to give your teachers a hard time....keep up the good work!

Speaking of horses and exams, I once tried to coax a foal into taking an oral exam for me. She would have done it too, but she was a little horse.

kyahgirl, I will try my best :)

diesel, sometimes I just don't get you :) I feel that is a sign of health :)

If I couldn't write in English I wouldn't be able to write at all! Yo habla ingles solomente!

English discrimination, that's terrible, but I'm sure you did just as well in Icelandic. :)

quilly, ...considering taht all course material and reading material is in English here at teh university, I find the insistence upon writign in Iceland somewhat silly. I think it is an island mentality...people living on an island are weird!

Theresa, I am sure I didn't...but I appreciate the vote of confidence :)

Frozen ground, icy cold, frozen fingers? You know that's all top quality fun!

Bonus points for the multiple-language-but-not-enlgish teacher teasing!

Good luck on the exams in any language. At this point, going for passing is grand and anything else will be gravy! You're working hard I am sure so I hope your grade reflects that.

Did you want me to explain Diesel's corny little joke? Nah. I didn't think so :)

Diesel, what can i say? i once had to take a singing exam for my music class while i was sick with the flu, and totally bombed because i, too, was a little "horse". heh heh. it's a stupid joke, but a good one, nonetheless!

i'm breathing a small sigh of relief, for it has to feel good getting through the first of those impossible exams. and i have total faith in your ability to do well in all your classes, my dear little Penguin, with or without great skills in Icelandic writing. what you lack in grammar and spelling i'm sure you'll make up for in knowledge and/or spunk! : )

Morgan, well in hindsight every painful experience seems fun, although when you ride and you are far from home and you don't have any feelings in your fingers to control the reigns of the horse....the horse usually gets a taste of freedom and you better have good leg-strength to keep yourself on top!

G, going for passing was my intend and even that would be aiming high...so far so good. No need to explain Diesel, he pretty much explains himself!

neva, spunk is all I have left in the silly world that is Iceland. If I don't get through, I always wanted to try and sell rolls and bread in a bakery!

Way to go, girl! Good job.

Looka all you cuties...those horses appear to adore you as much as the rest of us do!

Hi, dear Penquin...How many more exams to go and when can we exhale? We are not worried, just anxious for you to start baking the Christmas cookies.....Judy

cindra, they sure do...I don't have nearly enough time to go riding these days ...but there will come a time when life returns back to normal :)

J.D...well, my last exam is on teh 17th from 9-12. At 17 my flight goes away from Iceland to breathe a different air for a while :)

birdwoman, fluently...just German :) I do nicely in Icelandic and English and could probably survive in Russian. Plus I know all the bones in a human body with their Latin equivalent :)
