Thursday comes with....

that´s right...trivia. I´ve trained you well, young Quizwalkers!

here´s your next challenge:

"He was one of the most prominent Communist theoreticians and his ideas on revolutionary struggle and guerrilla warfare have been extremely influential, especially among Third World revolutionaries. Of Hunanese peasant stock, he was trained in Chinese classics and later received a modern education. As a young man he observed oppressive social conditions, becoming one of the original members of the Chinese Communist party. His embalmed body is displayed in a mausoleum in Tiananmen Square, Beijing."

Got it? Off to the comment section with you and happy hinting at this weeks special guest.

I actually wrote his name in my red book a while ago.

But his cultural revolution really didn't have much to do with the arts.

If one farmer lacks for a cow
And his neighbor must pull his own plow
They can look for another,
With an ox and its mother,
Burn his farm and show the people how.

He apparently believed that having sex with virgins "would help to restore and reinvigorate a man’s health and vigor. Girls from throughout China were brought to his bed, some willingly and some not."

And he was embalmed, even though his wish was to be cremated, he even signed the "Proposal that all Central Leaders be Cremated after Death". Talk about no respect for the dead.

some Hungarian guys made a fake documentary film named "The Real ..." in 1994. it was a professional work, so well done that you only start to feel strange toward its end when it starts saying things that the real ... still lives in a Buddhist monastery, has paranormal power and a cristal in his belly.

I posted about Communism today, too.

During his life he was a famous poet
and he made sure that you would know it
He wrote with a strong and vigorous hand
All the while fighting for the common man.

it's very hard not to say his name out loud. i mean, it practically rolls off the tongue, with out even trying. ; )

much of what he believed seemed almost harsh, but i do love this quote, because i think it's a concept people of all beliefs and/or politics should embrace:

Once all struggle is grasped, miracles are possible.

pretty powerful stuff.

grand brain teaser, as per your usual, dearest Penguin. still laughing at "I"ve trained you well, young Quizwalkers" heh heh. good one!!! ; )

And I think he once sat in that chair! Which was misleading because when I saw the picture, and read communist my mind went communist -> chair -> chaise -> Che. But I figured out I was off at the Chineese part.

That was one MIGHTY surprising package that was...took an hour and a half to unravel it all :)

Joel, you want your money in cash or can I send you a cheque?

Morgan, yes i believe he sat in that chair and they made an artistic photograph of him sitting in that chair. I just liked the chair :)

A check is fine...with two forms of identification, of course. Better yet, how bout you just perform two songs from Eurovision instead of one? We'll supply the popcorn.

Happy Independence Day to you and Icelanders everywhere.

At 01:17, Blogger Minka said...

al, cheers for that :)

Doug, Thank you...I had candy floss, lost my balloon and was denied admission on the jumping castle. Overall a pretty good day.

Joel, on behalf of my nation I would like to thank you...and Eurovision...well, the songs were powering all through downtown tonight as our DJ Pall Oskar made the nation dance. It was good practice :)
