"He sold his first story when he was thirteen, which earned him enough money to buy a second-hand typewriter. His first novel, a humorous fantasy, appeared in 1971. Working for many years as a journalist and press officer, he wrote in his spare time and published a number of novels in between. In 1987 he turned to writing full time, and has not looked back since.

Hi Minka, I'm guessing your favorite fellow who we discussed at one time in March. Based on your recommendation I now have a book waiting in "Mount To-Be Read".

40 million + readers and I have not been one of them.....clearly my education is lacking. I should not tarry as it needs to be patched up.....as well as my grammar it seems.
Birdwoman, you snuck by me :) And you are right, hatchett or not. I encourage my friends to try and read him...but I totally accept that it is not for everybody. It is hard to get into him though and particulary if you start with the wrong book. There a at least 5 Discworld novels I wonæt ever read again ;)

Theresa, yes there is. I´ll e-mail you the from above picture once I find it. The newest shopping mall in Iceland (Smaralind) is shaped like a penis when you look from above. The inside is decorated with what I can only describe as serm motives ; Somebody was trying to have a sense of humor!
I have no idea but can hardly wait to learn. :)
I have not read any of his books so you'd better get to recommending a good place to start.
