He is very closely associated with the German philosopher Hegel, more than anybody I think. Not that they knew each other personally very well, but their philosophies related.

Minka: His father felt so guilty and unworthy that he believed God was going to kill all of his seven children before they reached 33 and therefore never get older than Jesus. His father seemed to be a jolly sort of man.
