My candle burns at both ends;
It will not last the night;
But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends--
It gives a lovely light!

Everything Monika
Name::Minka From::Reykjavík, Iceland
I am a 30 year old student at the university of Iceland, who is at this moment dedicated to the welfare of the aging part of society at Sunnuhlið. One of 7 siblings I have turned out to be somewhat of a noisy girl, with the abilitiy to play nice at times.
"riding astride a rugged pony,
children adored she's never lonely.
steady wind blows flaxen tresses,
in lover's arms she offers caresses.
bubbling sulpher springs beneath,
it has been decided and bequeathed.
in snowy climate and harsh terrain,
that overall an Ice Queen reigns."

looking gooooood. well, actually, it looks cold, but beautifully so.
thanks for sharing -- wish i could toss a few snowballs around with you (and Doug) -- but i will in spirit, as soon as we get a little of our own around here!
I'll play. I love snowball fights! But first do we have to help brush the ice off the horses? I think they might need it, but the hay will make me sneeze.
Doug: feel that? i just beaned ya with a virtual snowball, bub (and you know i can do it -- after all, i'm looking at 12 hits with that Paper Toss game. how many for you, again???) rules? we don't need no stinkin' rules.
by the way Monika -- that top picture is truly breathtaking. hope you have a wonderful time in the country, my friend! xox
OC, we actually do have the sun rise and set this time of year! It starts about, shall we say 12 and sets around 3.30 and teh days sare getting longer to. Now play nicely! And hey...let´s build and iglu!
cindra, thanks for the warning, *ducks eloquently, turns and aims for her legs*
Doug, turns around, gives him the look for a minute while smilingly pulling the red card. Off my snowfield with you, right this minute! There are some dishes that are calling your name...
*Nyah nyah - sticks out tongue the frosty beagle up to his ears in powder... "beagles can't throw worth beans... although they CAN smell a good bone under the snow".
*hops out from behind large bush, looks around for someone to hit with the "perfect" snowball she just fashioned. realizes everyone has gone inside for cocoa. shrugs shoulders and smacks self in face*
Ohhh, since everyone has moved on to your next post, let me take this opportunity to pelt Doug with snowballs! I have a good arm and he undisputibly deserves a good pelting. Feel free o join in without guilt...and don't worry, I'm certain he'll survive...

Now that's penguin country.
Just beautiful.
I'm in. No rocks this time, though, k?
I am there in a New York minute....at least in my mind. I love this area of Iceland....will you take me there in May?

playing with the horses again!! :-)
no snowball fights for me my friend. We're just finishing up a blizzard here and I'm not planning to stick my nose outside!

Neva, I missed the part where we have to bring our own snow. Man, there's a lot of rules here, lately.
Very beautiful, M. Thanks. We saw a snowflake or two in the air hereabouts today, so I suppose our Winter's poised to make an entrance soon.
gorgeous. I am from Florida. I never saw snow until I was 23. I loved the way the world grows quiet in the snow. Have fun!

*thows snowball at Neva*
Yeah, it's started! Don't worry Doug, I've got your back. How dare Neva do that when you weren't expecting it.
*throws snowball at Doug*
LOL! Ha ha, and I got you too!
*ducks behind a horse*
Beautiful! The colors are awesome.
Morgan, you fell right into my trap. I gave all the horses a laxative.
*throws snowball at Neva, accidentally hits Actonbell*
The top photo is new since I signed in and I agree with Neva, the colors are amazing.
Anyone wish to give me the lyrics for "Home On The Range" in Icelandic? Or even German?
;)
Are there words in Icelandic for Deer and Buffalo? If so... why???
*snowball at Minka*
Snow! [going back inside]
*comes driving with the tractor and three kids in tow, all armed with snowballs*
Be afraid, be very afraid!
and so it begins...
I would love to have a snowball fight... yet... NO SNOW here! :(
Beautiful Pics...
OK, so maybe the fauna's too depauperate for "Home On the Range." How about "High Noon"?
Oh. Wait. Arctic Circle ...
It's alright, Minka, you can tell us that the beautiful sunset picture was taken at 12 o'clock, um, low.
;)
[hastily builds snow fort ... oh, damn, no snow here either ... curses!]
*gets hit in head with snowball*
Hey! Who threw that!?!
*throws snowball at OC's fort*

I'm just in for the hot cocoa with a Brennivin chaser...
*watches the snowball fight progress from the safty of the tailgate...*
*throws snowball at Terry*
Doug: 2 minutes out of the game for throwing snow at the audience!
We got snow too! That bottom picture is absolutely sublime, dear. Love it. Now, watch out...here comes one right at your head!
*throws at the ref*

so purty!!! I'm in and I'm warning you I played softball for 13 years and I have a pretty good arm!
So maybe you shouldn't send Doug inside too soon!
*shivers*
Thankfully my virtual mittens are warm, but I've got snow in my coat now. Who was offering the coaco?
Oh, Minka! Such beauty you've captured! Thank you for sharing this beautiful land with us! D :)
Square, that´s right...I probably could use him as a shield :)
Morgan, I believe you just did :) It´s teh way it works around here ;)
Diane, I agree and I am gla dyou like it although probabbly very different from California!
Don't eat the yellow snow!
I'm shivering just looking at those pictures!!
My nose is red and my lips are quivering and the ends of my fingers are blue.

it makes me cold to just look at that. Happy with the global warming here - hasn't dropped much below freezing.
Jamie, *throws her a gorotex outfit* it is all about the layering of clothes :)
terry, do you think it is mean we are all ganging up on our favourite beagle? I mean his floppy ears harly make it above teh snow :)
neva, that´s just so sad! :)
Square, if you say so...any excuse really to take his ego down a notch ...
birdwoman, I think I´d miss snow too much in teh winter time. I need it!
