What a lovely weekend!

Now that I have a bit more time on my hand, and my allergic reaction has moved on, I try to use this time of year to do things that I enjoy. So basically, I am out and about.

Last Friday, my guy had birthday. Most of you know my Smari. My little best friend. Well, this weekend he turned 6 and I can´t believe it. I changed your nappies, dude! Now he is making sure I don´t eat cinnamon and tie my shoe laces before I leave the house. He also sorts through the guys I bring home and gives his approval stamp. Mostly he doesn´t. Smari minn, I love the baby you were, the kid you are and the character I see emerging. Every day, I thank whoever is willing to listen, for our indescribable bond. Happy birthday!

While out and about in Icleand, on the hunt for that special Christmas gift for those amazing people in my life, I met this young man outside Reykjavik. He was selling Russian Matroschkas. Which I thought odd, happening in Iceland. Now, some of you know that my first foreign language happens to be Russian, so as I spun around I said loudly Matroschka and his eyes lit up and he said, "Yes, indeed!" I smiled knowingly (I can be cocky at times!) and he tried to indroduce the concept to me, in perfect English. Now I have met my fair share of Russians and I know their English. "You are not Russian!" I said. "I am from New York" he replied. So you are an American, selling traditional Russian artefacts in Iceland! Apparently it´s a long story! :)

Oh and of course, there are always horses :) Here is myself with a horse called Spá (Prediction!) I swear to God there was a spark between us. I tried to take a picture of her, because she is ever so beautiful and she just kept following me around. A friend of mine took this pic, which I just love. Spá came to Reykjavik on Friday and is now beginning her training. I predict a good future for her!

All in all, good weekend. Hope yours was grand too :)

Yes, Happy Birhday to Smari.

My weekend was spent preparing for our vacation. Then, when we get back, we'll take a few days to get everything in order because we went on vacation.

Vacations are too stresful.

Happy Birthday Smari! You know, we're watching him grow right here before our eyes through yours. It is wonderful to witness as is your continued bond.

That is an fantastic picture of you and Spa -- and, Spa?! Hello! Anything spa related is all good by this here pampered princess. ;)

Haha - I'm cracking up at Sar's Spa comment.

Happy Birthday to Smari, so sweet your bond. I don't know - you and that Spa seem made for each other.

Doug, you mean so the candles would be straighter? And why thank you :)

Fred, I know. One can wait to get home and relax :)

Sar, I bet riding her would be like a fine relaxing treatment. After a month or so. For now, I predict that she will receive a lot Penguin attention. She has such a lovely dark brown coat and when teh snowfakes hit it, it is just so precious!

G, Wouldn't you say? I agree actually. I have to be very careful, becuase otherwise I´ll go horse crazy. But there is one horse that has my utter passion already. But a girl can have two...it is all I am saying!

Its amazing the lives of these 'merchants'.After all that hes from NY ..that made me laugh Minka! The snow looks really dense...all i can say is 'ouch' wow! Love the purity of colour but I think it would really give me headaches if i were living in it!

Greetings, salutations, best birthday wishes, and welcome back!

Damn lucky horse. IMHO.

Hey Penguin, have you ever considered moving to a warmer island? We could have used a Russian translator last week!

Minka, I meant so he wouldn't lose humillity as he grows. Crooked candles are just good practice.

Minka,

Happy Birthday to Smari. May the two of you celebrate amny, many more of them together.

You look lovely in your Christmas hat. Spa needs one to keep her bangs from her eyes so we can see her beautiful face as well.

Everybody sing along: "If you're lucky and you know it clap your hands."

A very warm post from a chilly corner of the world. Thanks for counting a few of your many blessings for us, Minka.

Minka,

Lovely and festive photo of you and Spa. And so fetching in your hat. :) It's funny you mention the vendor, because here in FL, there are Russians everywhere selling goods.

Happy Birthday to your bestest boyfriend Smari.

consise10, there is nothing like snow around Christmas.

Diane, she is amazing and I am gonna see her again tomorrow. I wonder if she´ll continue to follow me :)

Morgan, every February, my friend :) When the Nordic winds blow strongest and snow is old news, I see beaches :)

Doug, I agree. About the candles :)

Quilly, her bangs are there on purpose, the wind can get pretty nasty and watery eyes hurt when they freeze :) But she has beautiful eyes, let me tell you.

Al, I am truly blessed. Mostly because I get to do what I enjoy and have the sense to do it. Thank you!

Brian, if that little dude was 30 years older, I´d use that yardstick to fight of girls from him :)

OC...we had that talk when he was three, that is when he picked me. But now that he is getting older, teh girl two farms away has new appeal...ditched for a younger model, what can I say? Such is life :)

Logo, we are very cute! It still seems weird to me. I have never seen a Matroschka in Iceland before. Sold by an American ? That is just asking for a definition of complex :)

Minka -- I know about cold weather and actually figured the bangs had purpose -- I just meant for the picture.

quilly, I know you knew :) And you are probably right, but her bangs are just soooooo pretty, we almost have the same haircolour :)

al...if I see one, I´ll get it and post a picture. I am sure, if anywhere, you could get that here :)

Square, aren´t you way ahead of your time:) But yeah, to many more wonderful weekends to all of us!

goldennib, imagine what it must feel like to be a friend of mine, and you´ll have to walk right next to me. A whole new level of respect emerges. It also happens to be a very warm head and as such, it is only practical :)

In the picture of you and Spá there's something wispy in the top right of the background. Is it steam? A dancer's ghost?

i believe i checked over here several times yesterday and *still* managed to miss this. Oy. apparently i live in a parallel blogoverse in which your post was not showing up. woe is me.

Happy Birthday to the beautiful and charming (i'm sure) Smari! and i loveloveLOVE that last picture of you and Spá, the two of you are beautiful together (tho', if memory serves, your heart belongs to another...). still laughing at the American selling Russian nesting dolls in Iceland! i'm guessing that "long story" is also a good one. xox

Doug, it is my fairy ;)

Neva, well, he gave me his card, I could make it my business and get to teh bottom of his story. I think he married a Russian woman and they moved- for some odd reason- to iceland. This of course is conjecture :)

Your weekend sounds lovely indeed! Lil' BoheMia has an amazing bond with her godmother. We met when we were both pregnant with our second kids... 4 months along and Lil' B had yet to turn 2. It was love at first sight between those two! I met her in SF and it turns out our mothers knew each other all the way in Spain! Anyway, she had a girl and named her Lil' BoheMia as well out of her love for my Lil' B! And before we moved away I asked her, because of the amazing and pure love she has for my kids, to be the "godmother" of my kids... not in the religious sense but basically, if we croak, she gets 'em! It is a very special bond indeed and I am so happy that you have that with Smari!

And that horse is beautiful and you are one hot horse lovin' mama if I do say so myself! WOOHOO!

Besos!

Miz B: I am glad for Lil´Bohemia. A dedicted friend outside the immediate family is so important to them. And there never can be too much love for a child, coming from all direction. Smari knows I am here whenever he needs me...that´s all it takes!

Terry, thank you. We are a lovely bunch :)
