Lampy-avert your eyes!

I know I have been gone in the last month quite a bit and nobody feels worse about it than I do, or so I thought. Allow me to introduce two really pissed off little birds.

I know birds is a stretch here. I just scolded them and refered to them as Minions of the Anti Christ! They didn´t seem to care all that much.
But I have to slow down a bit now. Life is just unravelling so quickly of late, that I have trouble following all the pieces of strings gathering about. There are boys, there are projects in the Red Cross, Christmas is approaching quick, there are horses to get to and my fridge is empty. I am not good when my head thinks my throats been cut off!

But alas...life is worth living and with that I would like to show you a couple of pictures I took on one of those hectic trips to see a horse;)

It might just be me, but I find the sky in Iceland an inspiration. If I could hold a brush and put up a canvas, I might ask Mom to paint one for me :) So colourful, so shapely...so fiery!

A farm area in Iceland. Can you blame me for driving out into the countryside and embracing solitude???

With all that is going on, I can´t wipe that big grin off my face.
I hope everyone of you has a wonderful start to this week. Smile a lot!

Happy Halloween to my American buddies! To the European fan-base(Hi MOM!)it is the last of the month, new pay-check tomorrow:) We don´t celebrate Halloween here, but I wouldn´t mind biting into one of those caramalized apples with you lot!

Good start to the smiling. You should prioritize. Start with replacing the lampshade.

Wow, that looks like something my ferrets would do... they like to destroy things.
Solitude-- wish I could find some of that. Beautiful photos!

Have a good one!

Ha! Little buggers told YOU, didn't they?! They don't appreciate solitude, they prefer pampering!

Cats show their displeasure differently. Mine get noisey. Mommy, Mommy - see me? I want this now, I want that, Can't you see this Mommy? Can you hear me Mommy? You're not paying attention, Mommy! I want more food, I wanna be scratched. ARGH!! This usually happens at my nap time, of course.

Beautious pictures! Such serenity! Thanks for sharing! D :}

You think budgies are a pain. Try hacking off a jenday conure sometime (I used to own one). Your ear will look like that lampshade. I had to give it up. That and so much else ...

Boys? There are boys?!? And me still standing like a statue in your ruddy garden? There's just no justice in this world ...

You are aware of what the idiom "going to see someone about a horse" means in American English, do you not? Speaking of, er, pissed off ...

:)

Is Harry that much bigger than Derrick now? And the little devils don't really seem to care they ruined the lamp, do they?

Classic picture by the way. Laughing my arse of here..

Poor Lampy! I hope it wasn't a sentimental item. Like the first piece of student furniture you ever bought yourself at IKEA or something similar. (Is there IKEA in Iceland?)

So now you have to add "lamp shade making" to the list of things to do.

All boys are bad. Spend Saturday night repairing Lampy. :-)

At 17:12, Blogger G said...

Oh sure, it's always the lampshades that are dispensable! Just replace it huh!?

Oh the humanity (can't get that phrase out of my head)!! I think you better sing to those birdies a little. That's a sure sign of trouble. Whenever my children chew the lampshades, I know that I haven't spent enough time with them.

By the way, how do you think we feel? Just like those birds - I believe Neva began chewing on my shade in the SNark last week, I had to shoo her!

At 17:15, Blogger Minka said...

Doug, how very practical of you! Youa re first by teh way. Shocking!

solace cai, I hope you find solitude. Just 10 minutes of it eahc day will do wonders. Sending calm thoughts your way!

FF, I am babysittign a cat right now and I totally get what you are saying :) they are precious though!

Oc, you are teh most adorable garden statue I have...eahc day I see you, more then most people can say :) Take what you get and smile about it!

Tryggvi, as their father I feel you should chip in a new lamp. Just sayin'!

Morgan, Lampy is a bloggerfriend :)
I wonder if I could make a new lampshade myself...interesting!

My birds (cockatiels at the moment) chew anything and everything they can reach with their little hookbills - even the wood of the doorjam molding. Just goes to show you that birds are people too. They have feelings just like the rest of us :-D

LOVE your pictures - I want to be there. Thanks for the serenity shot.

I love that sky too, gorgeous.
I think your birdies are trying to tell you something.
When Ariella is feeling neglected she growls and attempts to get into our laps. She weighs 40 pounds (18.2 kilos) and that is NOT easy to ignore, much like your lampshade.
Isn't living with animals enriching?

remind me to show you what our puppies did when they felt felt neglected. actually, i'll just tell you, because, trust me, the carnage was massive, and not at all pretty. and by "carnage" i mean furniture destruction. all of it. and by "not at all pretty" i mean total and complete furniture destruction. all of it. right down to the last cushion on the last sofa. yep, we used to have a house full of lovely (and expensive) furniture. now we have dogs. happy, *well* attended dogs.

lovelovelove the pictures (all of 'em) and missmissmiss YOU! we'll take you when we can get you, dearest Penguin... and hold you in our hearts while you're busy with those projects and/or that horse. (pay no attention to that whiny statue in the garden, when YOU say "see a man about a horse" we know what you mean!) xox

You have solidified my desire to drive the perimeter road around Iceland...it looks so beautiful there.

Good luck with all the excitement!

terry, I knew you´d understand! They are evry affected by my presence and upset without it. They showed me alright!

Logo, it certainly taught me and I couldn´t be without them! I love them to bits and it seems they kinda notice me too :)

neva, Well..I am sorta back now, there are still some thinsg that demand my attention, but nothing I canæt combine with blogging! I had no idea that "seeing soembody about a horse" had connotations! I really didn´t. I guess we always learn!

old mule, you´d love it...ther eis no doubt in my mind. Nothing quite like it, really!

Minka,

Who was it that insists that our lives have to be busy anyway? Glad you are coping, even if your birds aren't.

Love the landscape pics.

damn. it's not easy being terra cotta.

[wanders off with a nonchalant look on his face, to see a man about a horse while whistling "Skip to my loo" - which clashes with the background music, the Rolling Stones's "Satisfaction".]

:)

ROFLMAO..your birds are really letting you know exactly how they feel about your social life!!!! I love the pictures..how is the horse?? Hey there is nothing wrong with having a full and rich life..you know so many people to see so many places to go..so little time...so suck it up and get a move on!!..lol have fun Minka, life is too short not to have fun and enjoy, and along the way make some wonderful memories that will last you a life time so when you are old and grey and happily rocking in your chair you will never say If only I had done...instead you will say I am so glad I did...and smile..m

Yes, I say your friends were a little ticked... :)

Life sometimes does come at one fast... take it easy and remember to breathe in and out! :)

I can see your grin from all the way over here. It's gorgeous. :)

I've been gone for a bit myself. But, I'm glad you're still out there to cheer us up!

At 13:43, Blogger I Dive At Night said...

May I have an apple please?

LOL! I thought Lampy was your special name for your precious lamp. Heck, if not then curl up in a warm place with pieces of fabric and glue and ignore everything else for a while.

I'm doing that today. But with a sponge a rag and a wildly dirty apartment.

Poor Babies....at least the did not attack each other :) One of my cannaries plocked all the feathers on his chest, when I was on one of my trips to Iceland.....I had to get him bird company so I bought him finches and put their cage next to his....well one was a killer finch....she killed 3 of her cage mates.....that was ugly....she got her own cage....lived a long and happy albeit lonely life.

I love those photos....they look like some of the farms on the south coast....not to far from Rykjavik?

that typo was a gift to you....not!...should be Reykjavik :)

While you explain to your mom and and Miz B, can I have the candy corn candy apple?

At 22:22, Blogger Sar said...

Boys! Inquiring sistahs in stilettos want to know too!

Speaking of boys and halloween, a teen right of passage here in the states is at a halloween party bobbing for apples with the person you're sweet on and stealing smooches underwater then coming up with an apple together between their mouths. Not easy to do and could take many tries not that it would bother the sweethearts mind you. ;)

At 22:23, Blogger Sar said...

Doug you have the candy corn apple; I want the one next to it which looks like it's rolled in hazelnuts.

At 22:36, Blogger Minka said...

Brian, thank you and I am coping just fine. I would call it living life :)

Oc, you are too cute when pouting:)

madd, I couldn´t have said it better!

Tim, at least soembody could chuckle about it. I have to go to Ikea and get a new shade!!!

Shayna, remember to breathe is the number oe rule in my life and I do it in a yogic fashion with a smile :)

Fred, I am glad to see you too, no doubt about that. Hope life, wife and your three girls have been treating you nicely!

Morgan, I have Tuesdqays for clenaing too! I look good in pink gloves though ;)

Móa. absolutely correct! About an hours drive, south of Reykjavik! Rangarvallasyslu! You have a good eye and a heart left in iceland ;)

Miz B: I think e-mail would be appropriate to dwell on these kinda topics donæt ye think???

Neva, I gave you one already over at the snark. You have to watch the sugar intake ;) What teh heck it is only Halloween once a year. Look at Morgan, he is so cute munching on his! *hands her the most beuatiful example of a caramel apple*

Mom, you just chatted with me and don´t pretend, you know exactly all teh stories in my life, and if i donæt tell you myself you have odd ways of finding out anyhow.

Doug, suit yourself but remember:
A moment on the lips forever on the hips ;)

Sar, I saw that in a movie once. Wouldn´t mind trying that particular game. Nope, wouldnæt mind at all! And please help yourself to any apple you choose, but be quick about it...Neva is sorta greedy! ;)

At 22:59, Blogger Doug The Una said...

Minka, thanks for the advice and the caramel apple.

At 23:18, Blogger Minka said...

Doug, all I can do is tempt you, it is entirely up to you to grab the bait!:)

At 23:28, Blogger Kyahgirl said...

aw, the poor birds. they miss you!! Like Neva, I have some dog horror stories. Torin was particulary fond of books and shoes. You would never believe how much mess a dog can make with a paperback novel in a house!

I would very much like one of those caramel apples. Thanks for sharing.

What? Apples are healthy, come on now!

At 06:20, Blogger Miz BoheMia said...

Oooh! I have created quite the ruckus I see! FUNKIFIED FO SHO!!!

Yes, email would probably be more appropriate but you see, teasing little sisters and creating a ruckus as I lick and munch away at these delicious treats is well, way more entertaining!!!

Oooooweeee! Now I'll be in the corner dancin' that dance electric as you email me the juicy news!

As for all you nosy peoples... IN YO FACES SUCKAS!!!!

;-P

How's that for being a bossy big sister?
