Fall...

Mom and I took a lovely walk yesterday. The leaves have gotten colors, the air is getting cooler and the tip of my nose is getting redder when I am out and about. I love this time of year. It is my favourite season. You have a lovely, fuzzy scarf ... some gloves and a fresh breeze in your face. You snuggle more deeply into your jacket and walk through the piles of leaves on the ground. When you get home, you look out the window with a steaming hot cup of chocolate in your hands, smiling.

An Autumn Day
"Pumpkins in the cornfield,
Gold among the brown,
Leaves of rust and scarlet
Trembling slowly down;
Birds that travel southward,
Lovely time to play;
Nothing is as pleasant
As an autumn day!"

The season of Fall indeed is lovely. Unfourtunately here in Icland you might blink and it´s gone. In that spirit I leave you all for today, I hope you have a lovely weekend and embrace that child within.

sometimes I make little heaps

In my case the child is without and stretched over a rack, but I thank you and wish you an autumn weekend outdoors.

Beautiful photos. What is the tree with the red berries? I think I may have one in my yard.

I love your pictures. Nice narrative too :-) That tree looks like a Brazilian pepper tree.

Have I missed so much? Dios mio where does the time go????

I loved the pics and the feeling of peace and tranquility they transmit... I haven't felt that in years. I would give anything for a day where I can just go for a walk and just be... glad you have that my friend...

More pics I say! MORE! ;-)

That tree with the red berries looks like it's a rowan - called "mountain ash" in America. Both the European and two or three American species have red berries, so it's possible that they could even survive in southern California, Doug.

Put no axe to that rowan, it might be Quickbeam. And we all know, he is the hasty Ent.

Around here, the purple asters are now out, which means killing frosts are imminent. Sigh.

my favorite season as well...short though it may be.

Fall for us here in Tampa means the rain stops and the temperatures slide back to the upper 70s instead of low 90s.

I do miss the spectacular colors in the northern part of the U.S., but I still prefer the warm weather.

Nice photos, Minka, they're great!

Oh, the scenery. You take wonderful shots, Minka. I could feel fall through them. I miss that scent of dryed leaves, the crisp in the air. Not so much the raking and hauling. Or the winter that follows - at all. D :)

The walk sounds great! I love fall weather too. I don't like cold weather, but fall is great because it is still warm in the day and the nights are brisk, not freezing.
I love fall and spring the best. I guess I'm a mild weather kind of person.
The photos are pretty.
Enjoy some more fall season walks.

oh how i lovelovelove the fall, dear Minka! and your pictures are just fabulous! (this has been a good couple of days for scenic photography from our favorite Penguin, eh?)

Joel and i had a chance to enjoy a bit of glorious landscape in northern Connecticut over the weekend, but i'm hard pressed to think it was any prettier than what you've posted.

and i don't even mind winter so much... unless it lasts too long. that said, Brian, we lived in Florida for 6 years... and it seems to me the weather was only agreeable in the winter, when the temps actually dropped below 70! (except that one year when it got into the 30-40's for a couple of days)!

thank you for sharing your walk with your mom, Monika! and these wonderful pictures, as well! xox

Thank you for the beautful photos. I especially like the "green heart."
I have posted a few Colorado Color Sunday (9-24) photos today to enjoy.

Doug, see OC!

Actonbell, yes it is a heart mowed into a lawn...not by me though :) It is there every year...around this time and I don´t know why!

ariel, it´s still summer where you are, isn´t it?

Semina, yes they are all Icleandic. People telling you there are no trees here, are wrong. Wrong I say! i have pictures of all four of them :)

Shayna, I think there si nobody that doesn´t really liek fall. How can one ignore the paint nature puts on our scenery!

terry, damned if I know!

Miz B...I am also very happy that I can have that. Walk with mom, take pictures of her when she smells a flower and just enjoy the moment.

Brian, what did I just say about living in the moment?

Cj...I did. I was in the countryside almost three days and just returned, ´cause I had to!

Oc...elaborate you did and we are all teh wiser now :)

FN, nope it is not my backyard...it is an open area close by. But I walk there almost daily,...so I just pretend it is mine :)

Joel...like one mind! ;)

Fred, each to their own. I wouldn´t mind stewing in heta once in a while either. But I can get enough of heat.

feline Frisky...I am not surprised anymore you married the bunny. You think along similar lines!

Jamie, oh I will.

neva, you lovelovelove? Really? :)

Square, we only have two seasons really with an interuption of a week that pretends to be fall and a coupel of days of spring. One month of summer and an eternity of winter. But it is grand for making snowmen ;)

swamp, I canæt wiat to see them. I love to see how fall looks everywhere else!

Ummmm, I love the fall. Great pictures and nice that you make time for such walks with your mom. Speaking of walks! How's that foot of yours? Hope all is well with you Miss Penguin. Been away celebrating the start of another new year for us.

Have a great day. G

Cube, show off!

G, Foot is fine. I could ride both horse and sheep this weekend- in an a-sexual way!!! and New Year? I am all for promptness and not being late, but isnæt it a bit early?

ariel, I can deal with teh cold easily. But when it is cold and grey...it affects my mood for sure. Freezing with the sun shining is beautiful :)

ole blue, welcome and why thank you!

Those are beautiful photos penguin. You might be a bit further down the temperature scale than us because I haven't pulled out my gloves yet but we have great colours right now too. I have a Mountain Ash in the backyard but its not big enough to make berries yet. We planted it for Grant's birthday and in six years its only grown about 5 feet. You have to be patient with the trees in the cold country, right?
:-)

Autumn is a pretty time. Your photos are great. But for some reason, I was thinking that you didn't have trees in Iceland.

I will try to answer your questions here, as I am unable to access my blog since I published today. DUH!
About the colors, when you are creating, look by the Link icon and next to it is a box with different colors. If you highlight a word or phrase then go to that box, click on it, a palatte of colors will drop down. Click on a color and the text you highlighted will magically change into a rainbow. Now, there are some people reading, saying, "Oh my gosh, Swampwitch is giving "globbing" instructions. She doesn't have a clue what she's doing herself." And, obviously, I don't since I can't even get to my own "glob." About the trees, those particular ones are aspens but we do have birch which look very much like the aspens. Thanks for visiting today. Do I win the award for posting the longest comment?

Casper: You really have to be patient with them trees! I couldnæt live without them, so I am very glad Mom and dad planted plenty in our garden and looking out of my window...trees is the first I see!

Tim, there are four or five and we protect them proudly :)
Actually there is even a forrest in teh North of Iceland. It is small but still a forrest.
Compared to teh size of this country there really are few trees, but there are some and Icelanders are busy planting them. Not everything grows here though!

swampy, I have heard about the little icon next to teh link one that paints rainbows. I don´t have! Do I get a muffin, for being such an unfourtunate blogger?

Logo, ahhh indeed!

Oh, Minka, see we really are sistahs. I love the fall best for all the same reasons you described. I can't wait for the fall weather to arrive here. It might not be until November though. Seriously, there are some years where the folks here are wearing shorts when they take their kiddies trick or treating on Halloween. If you ask me, Halloween is best when you have a jacket on over your costume and you have to unzip and flash your costume. ;)
