Cultural Night in Reykjavik
Downtown is the place to be and I have to get there now. There are huge fireworks later this evening and until then it is gonna be Faroese dancing, Icelandic drinking and Danish smurbrod :)
And just to be in touch with my cultural sides, I have decided to focus on my Spanish part and here is Juanes...enjoy!
*moves her hips*
p.s. I might add pictures later, so if you came by now, make sure to check in again;)

pictures taken about half an hour ago:
Mom and Dad on their way to the Atlantic ocean. Yep, this year our city decided to have the fireworks on a boat. Icelanders gathered on lava rocks all aorund the Atlantic shore and waited in anticipation...aren´t they cute holding hands like that?
I like this shot as well, especially how it made the water look all red as if the sun were setting. It got pretty cold though and I was glad I had my gloves and winter jacket on. It is still August, right?!
This one is the last one I took and I like it the most. Mom, Dad and I agreed that it was a good show (although Daddy was slightly worried that the boat would explode!). We like the atmosphere when so many people gather, it is quiet and we all look at something spectacular together. A safety boat drove by the shore, to make sure none of the truly Viking ones had fallen into the ice-cold water!

Great photography, Penguin!
Mmmmm... I loooveee smorebrod! Enjoy!
What a beautiful evening! Glad you had such a fun time and the pictures are beautiful!
As for Juanes, me encanta!
Hey great pictures! What kind of camera? Mom and Dad are cute. But what about Juanes? Was it music? Let me try again!
Minka! Loved the music (I am so excited to actually be able to hear it now!). I love fireworks, the professional kind. So lovely. Great pics, and your Mom & Dad are very sweet. D
Brian, well...Iceland has temperament and you never know. Fire and Ice. Today we had 20 degrees and sunshine :)
Doug, thank you?
Miz B. I knew you´d like smorebrod. And Juanes too?
G, yeah there is some music. It depends on your browser though if you can hear it. I know it is visible with Internet explorer and Firefox. Opera didnæt want to play it with me either.
Just a digital camera :) Nothing fancy...I am just that good ;)
D, yes they are very sweet. I love to go to these things with them...it is just such a family type feeling I get...sittign there watching teh fireworks with them!
It is Junaes and the song is called:
La Camisa Negra! ;)
Thank you for the compliment!
LOVE this song! what a great beat... and those pictures are beautiful! it's hard to imagine you needing a coat 'n gloves this time of the year, but at least the fireworks were worth standing out in the cold to watch!
now i have to go perform a bit of Googlery, learn more about this wonderful artist!! xoxo
oooh... and thanks for your note on the Snark! i knew Iceland was a small country, but i had no idea how small! we've been enjoying Magni's performances... i swear his rendition of "Creep" was beyond magnificent. we couldn't believe he wound up in the bottom three last week, *especially* since we figure the final episode will feature him and Dilana. i can totally see Magni fronting Supernova, altho' i think Dilana, is a fascinating performer and i'm quite taken with her, as well! xox
Neva, Dilana has the second vite here in Iceland.
I think the fact that Magni ended in the bottom three last time is no surprise...There are so few Icelanders to vote (and rest assured they will vote for Magni although they might think Dilana is better;)and we know about teh voting in America...almost the same as in iceland, not necessarily the better one gets the vote, but the one you know, lives in your State yadda yadda yadda...the States have more inhabitants than Iceland I am told :)
Thank goodness, Supernova has the final say and they send Magni straight back to his seat...he is "so far from going home" *crosses fingers*
how nice pictures! what camera do you use? just curious. in your pics I love the skies even more than the firework, very beautiful!
glad to hear Harry is getting better, that's a real horror to happen to any living creature. may many poop follow that first small one!
Hey Penguin-nice to visit you again. I enjoyed your fireworkds.
And, miracle of miracle, I actually know what you're talking about with this 'Supernova' and 'Magni' conversation. This must be the only show I've watched for the last two months. I think of you everytime Magni in up there!
Big hugs to you. I hope you can reach those little flippers around me :-)
ariel, Pentax Optio WPi :)
I bet that clears it up. It is actual a medium good digital camera, but sometimes I get a nice shot here and there. The skies in iceland can be amazing, I have many a picture just with the clouds and lights and stuff.
Kyah, looks who´s back! So you think of me at least three times a week?! I can live with that :) I missed you!
Outstanding pictures!! And, love the song! Now what was the occasion?
Dilana and Magni are far and away the best!!
p.s. this post has now been up for almost 12 hours...(taps fingers on desk)...isn't it time for a new one?
Joel, look who´s talking! Now get busy with it!
I LOVE fireworks! They just make me happy.
Sounds like they make you happy too!!
Bundle up and stay warm. It has been hot and humid here, so I cannot imagine wearing a coat and gloves.
Jamie, I usually bundle up well since I am quickly cold. My feet take ages to get warm in winter, and my fingers tend to swell up when frost is about... Fireworks make me fire up inside though ,)
Beautiful pics Minka... so glad you all had a great time... :)
Beautiful pictures and music? Ssssexay.
shayna, thank you and it is easy to have a greta time when the sky lights up for you ;)
Jenna, I can imagine why you like it too :) let´s shake them hips!
Those are GREAT pictures. What a beautiful setting for fireworks!

why thank you and welcome, haven't I seen that develish face over at Sar´s?
Oh David is everywhere, Penguin. EVERYWHERE. It's very scary.
*still shakin'*
you mean...the shadow-beside-your-bed kinda scary? *freaking out*
They sure sang whatever they were saying really great! Your pics are beautiful!
woof to that, Icy!
Monika, how is Harry/Klein doing?
Ariel, that is so sweet of you to ask. He is allowed to leave his cage again and is at the moment doing everything in his power to keep me from typing :) He is very good, thank you for asking!
Great photography and great music! Sounds and looks like a blast (so to speak)!
Minka, you have captured magic with those fireworks shots. Your favorite is the one I like best as well. I can't believe you did that with a digital camera.
Thanks for stopping by my blog!
What's this? Saturday's post still up...tsk, tsk, tsk. ;-)
good news of the little bird!
ap3, it is always good to combine the two;)
Joel, mockind me? Well, I guess I had that coming! :)
ariel, yes it is. So do you have a pet?
Wow, those pictures are absolutely gorgeous!
solace cai, why thank you and I do agree ;)
I have a rainbow boa I am not sure exactly which brand of, someone asked me to give it room for a while because she was in moving, and it was years ago. I now consider him mine. he has only half an eye, he is beautiful and very tame, and at the moment *VERY* hungry.
