Update...

What amazing two weeks I had so far here in good old Germany. The weather has been so sunny and warm. The town I am staying in is lovely and there are lots of things to see. My sister is feeding me well, my bed could be softer and I really would like to sleep in one of these days. Please?

Three kids? To whom the word "no" could be interpreted in many ways...mosty the exact opposite. I am pretty sure when I was their age; respect, discipline and standing to attention whenever called where always on my mind. How times have changed :)

My youngest niece is the toughest of them all. She has taken quite a liking to me and I am incapable of doing anything without her presence. I mean EVERYTHING needs her asistance! Imagine the bathroom rituals a grown woman goes through! Yesterday evening I was supervised shaving my legs. Only my one year old niece didn't feel the amount of gel I applied to be sufficient and emptied the entire bottle on my....Hair!
Taking a bath? Alone? That little rascal is undressed faster than I can close the shampoo bottle. So basically, I have come to slightly change ALL my routines.

But all this is a little price to pay. I get to be fun aunt Monika. The one that teaches you how to ride a bike and you thankfully recipocate this by wheeling over her toes, pulling at her clothes and scream when you fall down.
Auntie also takes you to McDonald's where you'll repay her generous gesture by throwing tomato sauce at your sisters and spill the drinks over the entire menue.
Auntie Monika also takes you to the cinema, where you'll demand in no uncertain terms, every amount of chocolate you can possibly hold and could you please also have something to drink? Half way into the movie, auntie is left with one kid needing to pee and the other running around high on sugar!

It's been fun!
Willing to adopt triplets? I think NOT!

Sounds like big fun!

You can tell a good aunt by her bruises.

Being an Auntie is the best! Sounds like you've got it down pat. Lucky kids :-)

you are too cute... and too fun. and Doug is SO right... you *can* tell a good auntie by her bruises. just ask my sister.

i'm happy to know the trip has been so lovely for you thus far... and i truly hope you continue to enjoy yourself, hard mattress/shaving gel in hair/lack of privacy/sugared-high kiddies notwithstanding!

Glad you're having a great time! Reminds me of when my wife's neice came to babysit our youngest for a few days while we were away at a business retreat. When she arrived she was a child development major in college...she left intent upon changing her field of study. Good news is there was no permanent damage done...she now has kids of her own.

I looooooove being an Auntie. You know why? Because you can give them back. And if it's not bruises, it's the amount of drool spots on your shirt.

It sounds like your three nieces are great characters. They'll keep you young. :)

It's a little bit early but happy birthday! See, I believe your birthday is on the 17th, right?

Bathroom alone? Silly girl. When you have your own kids, the bathroom becomes the family room.

LOL! I have a 2 year old boy... and I have no peace while trying to go to the bathroom. that is funny! Just wait until you have one of your own... :)!

TLP, I was always locked out of the bathroom when an adult had things to do there in my childhood. I'm gonna have a couple words with my parents...

Ha, ha, haaaa! Going to the bathroom ALONE? Every parent's wildest fantasy!

let me tell you something about children... they turn what once were fantasies of romantic, sex-laden getaways into fantasies of crapping without anyone watching, sleeping alone in silence with no one touching you and just sitting on your ass and not having to get up and being a delightful couch potato!

*sigh*

And I once thought myself to be cool and all! Oh well!

Glad you are having a good time dear sistah! Live it up and enjoy! Much love and kisses to you!

Me!

LOL " How times have changed" this coming from a 28 year old.....can you imagine the changes this Auntie has seen :)
And going to the bathroom alone, I thought that my time would come ....nooo! I had two Pug dogs that thought going to the bathroom with me was their duty......now my cat cries at the bathroom door if I close it and only stops when I let her inn.
Enjoy your lovely time with the little ones......when I see you in Iceland, will I know you by the bruises?

Well, personally, I take business phone calls in my bathroom because it has a lock on the door!

Ever tryt o talk on the phone when your 9 year old has something "very important" to say?

My kids are accepting applications for an Auntie, and they both already know how to ride a bike, they usually leave adults alone when nature calls AND they even make tea and breakfast (if you are brave enough to try it).
You sound like an excellent applicant, lots of good experience.

Good times, auntie Minka, and good for birth control and parenting warm ups (heh heh heh)

Most Importantly (drum roll please): Herzlichen Glueckwunsch zum Geburtstag! I hope you are at the top of the roller coaster arms waving mouth open in the scream and having the time of your life! Enjoy your day, your holidays, and being an aunt - all the best that summer can offer. Oh and on this day - may you luxuriate in your bath - alone and apply just the proper amount of hair gel. Enjoy!

Minka. About those kids. Take pictures. Keep the negatives/files in a secure place. For later. Like when the boyfriends meet the relatives. It's called "blackmail". Also "payback".

Hippopotamus. Sparrow. Two sheep (not rams).
