Minka in Germany!
I made it...two bus rides(VI I thought of you!)and 5 minutes of walking and I made it to an internet cafe. It is slightly scaring since I am the only gal in this place, but it has its positive sides. I have already had two coca colas for which I didn't need to pay! What's a pretty girl in a short skirt gonna do? Since I have a map of this city right next to me, I have been approached several times in- what I will call for the sake of this argument- English. And people say Germans are unwilling to speak anything but German. You just have to inspire them ;)
Soccer. There is nothing but soccer happening here and I am in the middle of it all. Let me just use this oportunity and say: "I'll cry for you Argentina...the truth is you didn't play well...all through the group-plays and even later, we keep our promise...we were just better..." *grins* Now since we are in Germany, you guys have to sing it slighty off key!
And don't worry that I'll change while over here. Germans are an inspiration for zynical responses :) Believe you me, typing wrong alone will come easily, since the German keyboard is different from the Icelandic one. They exchange the position for Y and Z, for no apparent reason, other than to annoy me spelling "You GUYS!" And just becuase you have been waiting so long...I'll throw you a bone!
TEH!!!
Ok, you guys...my sister said I have to be back by 14.30 because that is when cake-time is and in Germnay one is not expected to be late! You thought being the man of a preganat wife is difficult? Imagine being the loving sister...so far I have been found on top of trees to get cherries, because my huge-bellied sister has a craving for them, I have asked dozens of people for the locations of bathrooms, because it seems she needs to go non-stop and I have been awoken in the middle of the night to open the window, since she felt too warm amd while I am up could I please get her some ice-cold water from the kitchen...
Second Cola Guy just told me that there is an interent-cafe closer to where I am staying. But I don't know when I'll be allowed out next...so I wanna seize this moment to wish SQUAREGIRL a Happy Birthday on the 4th of JULY and the rest of America I just wanna wish a fanatbulous Independence day!
Miss you guy loads! Blog nicely!

Hey Monika,
Sorry I missed you- Iceland is the best place on earth. I´m in the City Hall with a cup of coffee, ahhhh, connected for a moment to the computer again! I´ve felt so disconnected without everybody in the bloggy world!
Have the best of times in Germany ... talk to you when I return (IF I return... I might become stuck here)!XXOO
Have a great time Minka! Remember, too many coca colas will give you kidney stones...or something like that.
Nice to see you back here. May I point out you type different on German keyboards? Or maybe it's the free cola.
Thanks for teh "TEH" though.
Oh, and great version of Evita

Oooh I want to hear more about this Mister Coca Cola! Minka's making connections already - you go girl!
Glad to hear you made it safely & hope you're having a wonderful time. :)
That was two Mister Coca Cola guys, Sar. And she'd hardly stepped off the flippin' bus yet. Meanwhile, here I stand in a Rejkjavik garden with starlings in my hair. Have fun, but remember your sister.
If France win through to the final, be on the lookout for stray Canadians in the stands. Une p'tite pilule bleue pour les Bleus. Especially the one that's retiring. Not that he doesn't already have a selection, most likely.
:)
two colas? wow, you go girl!
You're a good sister too. Glad you found a place to get on the Internet, its so nice to see you!
nice to see you're having a good time AND making friends, while attending to your sister on the side. climbing trees? mid-night window openings? above and beyond the call of duty, i say!
by golly, you deserved the little detour that brought you to the internet cafe... and why NOT get a free coke or two while you're at it? what's the point of being a pretty girl in a short skirt if you can't take advantage of the "locals" while you're there?
have fun, Minka... and stay safe!! xo
tsduff, thank you! I am so gla dyou ar ehaving a great time in icleand. It truly is amazing, especially when other people agree :)
Joel, well I am back and in case of more proposals I will change to water and maybe a coffee and there is a delicious strwaberry cake I have been viewing in the last minutes...
Doug, anything to cheer you up!
Sar, I am sorrz to announc ethat Mr.Coca Cola didn't make the cut :( But the Cola was good though :)
OC, Dad promised to look after my little garden statue. He always practices his golfing in the garden...
Kyahgirl...it is also nice to blog, even though just for a little while. She has THREE kids...all girls...they are not an inch better than boys. i always imagined girls more docile...boy, was I wrong :) But I am having a blast!
Neva, I'll stay safe. I donöt take advantage of them though...they have the pleasure of talking to me meanwhile, and you really can't put a price on that :)
You go girl!!! Short skirts do come in handy!! Glad you are having a good time. Your sis is taking advantage of you, just remember all the things you did for her and find sometime in the future for her to pay you back. I have had 2 babies and I only asked the hubby once at 10pm to make me a sandwich, but finding bathrooms is VERY important....I had to go EVERY 20 mins. Thanks for the birthday wishes and yes I really am 33 and I have NEVEr looked my age, woohoo for me!! I actually got asked if I was old enough to drink in a liquor store when I was inquiring about a new Rum....this was just on Saturday...
sounds like you're having a great time. don't miss the games!
Talk! Tell all.
Short skirts, short shorts, tank tops. Ya gotta love'em. Men are SO easy. But watch out for the cheap ones.
TLP? you still in character from Doug's story? :-)
Oh Minka, always so inspirational! Brian's writing you poems, Germans are speaking English, maybe if I hung out with you I'd write a novel or something! Thanks for the birthday wishes, I've had a wonderful birthday thus far and it's not even the 4th yet. Hey Jodes, I'm gonna be 33 tomorrow and I'm told I don't look my age either!
Hi, minka. It sounds like between the guys, your sister, and her children, you will have no time to get bored. Just be sure those guys are worth your time. ;)
Oh lovely. Your Dad's looking after your statue. And your virtue too I daresay. So now the part of me that isn't covered with bird leavings is spattered with divots. And my clubs are in California! Oh well, it would be worse if they were in your garden. Stone ... arms ... can't ... reach ...
:)
I'm so glad you managed to find an internet cafe. I think you may have had major withdrawals without it.
So nice of you to spoil your pregnant sister. She hasn't asked for a foot massage yet? Well, that's coming next, I'm sure.
The fireworks have been going off all evening here.
People like to get started early! Tomorrow is the BIG day. We are ready to set the neighborhood on fire!!
YAY! You are kinda back! Better than being GONE! OH THE HORROR!
Argentina vs Germany... bah! BAH!
Hope the rest of the trip goes well and hey, take it easy on them pregger chicks! I was one twice you know! ;-P
Und jetzt, wie geht's?
Squaregirl I guess there are no wrinkles on a square.
Hi again Monika! I thought of you today as I continually typed 'teh' instead of 'the'. :-)
Es tud mir leid, Minka. Deutschland güt gespielt.
I am so glad I am not German neither Italian, I wouldn't be sitting here but would be on my way to the nearest hospital. this was a game of 120 minutes' excitement, both teams were playing more than wonderful, finally my heart would have been crying for both. this is what they call Football, thank you to your team for being one to give us this unforgottable night.
Sigh. I really thought Germany would win through.
Hi sweety! I read you in your computer and am happy you have a nice time.
mom
Condolences on Germany Minka. I know you were really rooting for them.
Blame it on the Brits! When I was reading some UK blogs yesterday I saw them all hoping Germany would lose!!! Why? Must be some long standing rivalry. I don't follow soccer so don't know.
Condolences...very sorry.
Condolences...very sorry.
Kyah, I too met English guys that'd rooted for Italy for that reason. I guess this is the "if we cannot be champions, they shouldn't be, either" thing.
Brian, I don't agree on Italy's being better the entire time. yeah, I know, there's no objectivity in football. :) but to me it really seemed that both teams were the same good. then Italy came back to the extra time like they drank energy in the break. geez I'm still thrilled when think of the last night.
You made it! Have a great time. We expect lots of interesting stories.
I'm off for another vacation myself, so I'll see you next week.
Glad you made it safely to Germany and safely to a cyber-cafe... have fun, darlin'...
Oh sweetie, I have no words...I feel your pain.
how is is going and when are you back?
Hope you can get out to the closer cafe soon and there are nice boys to buy you Coca cola there too, what's a pretty girl to do?
:p
What a good sister you are! Mine is a brat!
HAve fun in Germany, take lots of pictures!
I sense that Minka will be here soon
good sensing, Douglas :)
You guys, are just terrific :)
Checking in although you know I am gonna be away for a bit. True blogger buddies you are, the lot of you!
Ariel, my soccer buddy! It was a tough night. People crying, hugging and just in sheer disbelief.
Italy vs. Germnay was one of teh best games I have ever seen. Sentimental maybe, mostly because I am here as well.
Good game, I do believe the better team won though. Germnay and Italy played equally good the entire game, until additional time when Italy went into 6th gear and well, they deserved it.
Still, I feel a bit numb...
All you Americans, i am very proud of your interest in this foreign sport and some of you have shown me support by giving it some attention :)
You have an outstanding good and well structured site. I enjoyed browsing through it »
