Monika and Douglas

Exactly today one year ago: I rode the big wave of the bloggoverse (also known as blog-explosion) and hit a site called "Waking Ambrose". You can magine my delight and as I was about to hit the "next blog"-button for a quick get-away... something made me open the comment section and I read the seven previous comments and decided to get away even quicker.

What a bunch of smart-asses I thought. And so out of my league and vocabulary style. But it doesn´t hurt to be polite, so I left a simple comment and left, ready never to visit again-because why surround yourself with smart people when you can find stupid ones and feel better about yourself?!

But I made my bill without the dawg. He stalked me back to my place and made me return. It is hard to refuse when you see that tail wagging.
Little did I know that a year later I would be one of those regulars hanging out on that sarcastic playground, trying to outdo each other.

The level of teasing, wit and class has become my daily bread. As it has for many of you. I met a bunch of you over there and I am glad you decided to join me over here. Less elegant and smart, yet refreshingly simple :) A place to kick back your shoes and pull up a chair, versus biting your nails and coming up with something you shouldn´t be thinking in the first place!

Doug, you are wonderful and I hope you know it. Here is to the next year...Cheers!

ha ha Fred!

Monika, what a lovely tribute to the blogging dawg.

Waking Ambrose is my daily bread too. Equally important are my frequent trips to this little corner of Iceland. I've met a lot of great people through Doug's blog, you're one of them

*mwah*

Yay, third!

Brian - my guess - Voof Voof!

Monika - nice post. And actually, just what I thought - who are these snarky smart asses? Until you get drawn in. You're right -that's it, what draws me over to your place, refreshingly simple - "simply said - search for simplicity"?

Okay, we're celebrating your anniversary back over at Doug's, so come on back. The party is getting a little out of hand and I fear the luminary of a police officer's flashlight can't be far off.

"why surround yourself with smart people when you can find stupid ones and feel better about yourself?!" LOL Monika! yeah, we and our plans. I can hardly believe last summer was a year ago, though. seems only a couple months...

I followed that crazy Bohemian to Doug's place. One itty bitty comment. Then I went back a few days later. Another itty bitty comment. And now...oy...slight addiction to the dog's blog.

Happy Blogiversary - or however I spelt it over there. Oh yeah...we're partying it up. Just for you and Doug. We're generous that way.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!! (What a devilish anniversary at that might I add!)

Hi Monika,

What a nice post. Your posts have all been so nice lately :-) Doug makes himself at home where ever he goes - and puts forth his witty pith along the way. (How's that for wit - ha ha) You are all a wonderful crowd to hang out with. It will be one year of blogging for me come the 16th of this month. Amazing.

jenna, I amglad you enjoying yourself in our honour. Another martini?

squaregirl...what do you mean our avatars? I am a talking penguin and dog is a somewhat frightening dog in that pic! We really look like that! Why do you think we are bloggers, imagine if we were to go out in public?!

Isn't it interesting who all we meet through blogging from our diverse circumstances yet we all usually enjoy and benefit from it.

At 02:20, Blogger Alana said...

Hahaha! I personally would love to see a talking penguin and a dog out in public! That would be quite entertaining for me...by the way, I am really and literally a square.

OK, I came here with all kinds of tart-tongued nonsense but, apart from calling BS on all the unearned humility above, I'm really enjoying the lovefest. Thanks to all of you for the kind words and friendship.

Minka, Mädchen, Penguin, pal, it turned out to be a big day when you offered me your politeness and bigger ones since you learned to leave it behind. You're an extraordinary woman, a special friend and a 3-alarm riot. Both Waking Ambrose and I are better for knowing you.

At 05:14, Blogger Doug The Una said...

Oh, and it's still June 6 here so this counts, dammit!

At 05:15, Blogger Doug The Una said...

Do I have to go to my site now?

At 06:21, Blogger Alana said...

Aww Doaug, Minkas sleeping I bet, but I bet she'd give you permission to stay and play instead of returning to your site...with all those avid guests who are anxiously awaiting you arrival.

You're much safer here, so as much as I'd advise you to stay, I have a feeling your sense of obligation will make you attend to your own eccentric commenters.

Anyway, A final happy blogiversarry to you borth and what species are penguins anyways?

And what is the traditional gift for one year blogiverssiaries ? I am so ucouth!

Squaregirl, I think this is the hardcopy anniversary.

Minka...finally took the plunge and left a comment on Doug's site. Very scary but I've broken the ice and shed my lurking ways.

Happy blogiversary again you two. I for one am proud to say I met my dear sistah at Doug's place back when she was still Monika and her avatar reflected her lovely self and her lovely birdies.

At 16:02, Blogger Minka said...

my utopia...ye sit has. It is the stuff that makes you smile and you canæt have enough of that!

Tim, it sure is. And I think it is mind-opening!

squaregirl, well...if you really are a square than join our club. Now imagine us three walking down the street. We sure would turn some heads :)

Doug, you came late...but you had teh right words. And I hope for your sake that 3-alarm riot is a good thing!
And I am afraid you ahve to go back to your place...last time I checked there were 7o-something comments :)
Good luck with it!

sqauregirl, the perfect gift is a salami-buddy according to the new Home in Style catalogue. page 43...upper left corner. Get the silver one :)

Brian...be right over! And Wau wau is much like the English "wow wow", which makles German dogs really cool!

omsi8, er að batna. Samt ennþá að gubba. Mikið gengur þér vel að blogga. Afar stolt af þér!

Doug, what now who?

Joel, yes I saw. You are really brave. We all had to dive into teh deep end and wait for teh big wave to hit us. But rest assured, you are ready for the ride. And if the host of that page is mean to you, you just let me know. I´ll pull his ears!

omsi8, hvað skilabóð? Meiniru í msn? Það er eitthvað ekki að virka hjá mér í dag!

Sar, that is right. We sure have been around that block for quite a while together :) I think teh two birdies was one of my first avatars...back in the days when I had no clue what avatar means :) I am glad we all got to meet!

At 16:24, Blogger Doug The Una said...

Nope, Minka, you had a picture of yourself before the birdies. Oh, and I think the first anniversary is traditionally the "paper" anniversary, little computer gag there. Never mind me. A 3-alarm riot is big fun.

Douglas, douglas *shakes head slightly.
That is why I typed: "one of my first..."
