Horses and Cars!

I spent this weekend in the countryside. Love to get away from the noise and the constant checking of my wrist watch. I exchanged my car for a horse, my clean room for the stables and my creamed hands for sore blisters.

In between shoveling horse shit and cuddling new puppies, I took three little guys on a trip to see waterfalls along the southern route of Iceland. Boy oh boy oh boy! Three guys and one worn out Monika were the result of that trip. But we had fun. There is one waterfall in Iceland where you can climb behind it. We did that and needless to say: they were amazed. We had a picnic, in the kind of weather you guys would probably get out some gloves and a scarf, and waded in ice-cold water. We are all sniffling ... but nothing major.

I arrived home looking like I have just escaped Survivor Palau. Dirty fingernails, oily hair in a pony tail and torn clothes. But even worse, my lovely car was in a state of dissaray. Otto Dumbledore really felt bad and the other cars were starting to point...hmmm...headlights at him. So after work this morning I took him to the washing area and pulled up my sleeves. It was quite a sight, three guys and me cleaning our cars. Now you would have thought that guys would spend more time maintaining their vehicles than girls...but guess who was the last of us four to leave!? Come on, I dare ye! That´s right...yours truly! But not without giving instructions of circular-movement appliction of wax to guy number two, who stayed the longest. When he finally gave up and packed, I gave him that look of utter dissapointment and said:
"Leaving already?"
and he replied:
"Well, I thought rubbing it twice all over should be enough, how silly of me!"
He really thought he could get smart with me!
So I said:
"You say that stuff to your girlfriend late at night?"
He left!

What a lovely time! The waterfall looks beautiful and how much fun to go behind it!

Ooooh! I wish that flaterry thingy would talk to me all the time!

I missed you! Glad to hear some Minka news!

BTW flattery will get you everywhere.

Nice waterfall and nice boys. I am so glad you had a loving weekend with the children in your life. I rarely, i.e. never, wash my car. I keep telling my wife we should go to Iceland for a vacation because of the scenery and the wonderful people. I was there once briefly in 1979 flying back from Europe, I bought a sweater at the airport. Not that I need it in Florida.
Thanks for stopping by and posting your comment. I apologize for distressing you on your first visit, I am sure it was a shock. I don't always write about isssues like that; tomorrows post is all poetry, mostly safe, except for the last one. Please know that you are always welcome to visit.
Thanks Brian

Which one of those guys talks to a girlfriend late at night?

Now I'm worried about Hubert.

And thanks for the affirmations.

I just love the country. Sounds like you had fun. That java thing was really nice. My Uncle Tom & Icy helped me make one from scratch, but it is more like a Mad Lib game. It's on my sidebar. You have a wonderful blog here! We all love it and think you are great!

YAY, I love to be complimented in such a sincere manner.
Sounds like a wonderful and exhausting weekend.

Miz B. I missed you too. It is strange but whenever I leave my computer for a couple of days I feel like I am leaving a huge part of me behind and than I return and the internet is all screwed up...Just my kinda luck!

ariel, I´ll let you know in advance. We get a lot of visit from abroad ove rteh summer and squeezing you into one of our trips will be a piece of cake. If you donæt mind dog saliva, screaming children and changing weather:)

Cube, I know! That is why I mentioned it to all of you. I can call in favours for the rest of this year;)

Brian, it was a pleasure to come to your side and needless to say...I will be back!

Doug, Hubert will be fine and I am glad I have not to worry yet about those thress little guys and girls. Although the middle one made an offere to marry me!!!

cowgirl, now why did I know you´d say that?! I actually do too and I love to feel their warm breath on my neck when they are watching me:)

Lammy, that was so nice. Thank you! And now I finally know from where you came from:) Tom&Icy, of course! I´ll check out your sidebar in a moment:)

logophile, you´d think people wouldn´t appreciate fake flattery because tehy see right through it, but they still do. Me too! A nice word is a nice word . And might I just say: you look stunning today!

kyahgirl, I bet by now he has foudn my phine number and adress(you can do that in Iceland by simply going to a certain page and give in my licence plate number and there you have it!) I am not gonna be surprised to find my tires slashed any day now :)

Thank you for the compliments:)

That sounds like a wonderful day. And my car REALLY needs work--I'm ashamed. It's a tiny car and wouldn't even take me long, but it sits...dirty. My bad!

At 00:42, Blogger Jamie Dawn said...

Oh, I'm SOoooo flattered! Thanks for that link.

Those three little guys are cuties. What fun! Kids are just a blast. They do tire you out, but they are so wonderful. The waterfall looks like fun too.

Your car is now clean and happy! I need to to come and wash and wax mine.

At 01:27, Blogger Mo'a said...

Oh!!!You went to Skoafossar....not to far from Moeidarhvol :)

At 14:47, Blogger Minka said...

Actonbell, it only takes one step into a carwash in case you can´t be bothered :) I tired that too but wasn´t very satisfied with the result, so I´d rather do it myself.

Jamie, ye sit was fun and I wouldn´t give these moments away for anything. Although I appreciate them much more from hindsight:)

Tim, it is a nice one, a small one but the most fun!

Móa, it is actually Seljalandsfoss...but we also went to Skogarfoss that day. And no it is not too far form Myrdalsjökull!

Feels good to see the kids. Was laughing about "your sweetheart". In front of the waterfall it seems just like he's "Superman" (with the arm in air). Or who is his idol at the moment? :-) Miss you all!

At 18:40, Blogger Minka said...

VI, will be right over. % songs about busses? God, I have to use my two remaining braincells for that!

myutopia, yes it was had by all. especially since the atcion is in the past and I only remember their smiles!

Heike, think at present we are most proud of Batman, but Peter Pan is also in teh picture. It changes weekly! :) I love him so much!

Well Minka, The Idiot and I are afterall stranded on a deserted island together...and while we do not have a blanket, alas! We do have to share the same raggedy, weather worn tarp night after night in order to fend off the westerlies....

Did you make a song list?:D

At 20:02, Blogger barefoot_mistress said...

So what does that expression mean anyway?

At 20:32, Blogger Minka said...

it means something like cooking something up together. To tease and trick others!
