HNT and Thursday Brain Teaser

Somebody nailed my shadow to the wall! Help, Minkaswell! This happens to be my 6 o´clcok shadow in case anybody was wondering...

ok...now to the important stuff: Thursday Brain Teaser!

"She dropped out of medical school in 1883, after a bought with illness. A trip to London in 1887 led her to design houses for the poor, and in the late part of the 19th century, she founded Hull House in Chicago. She was an early member of the NAACP and the founder of the American Civil Liberties Union. She was dubbed “the only American saint” by the press."

IF you think you got it, go to the comment section and HINT!!! at the answer. This way I´ll know I tickled your brain and others still have a chance to play along. Your hint might be a better clue for the next guy!
You know the drill and off you go...

Ah, yes. The Unitarians like to claim her as one of their own, but she was really a Presbyterian.

I am not able to recall her name; though I bet if I heard it I would recognize it. I'm better at using tools to find information than to remember information. However, I haven't and won't use any tools here.

At 23:29, Blogger Minka said...

Check out your sidebar under "Everything Monika"... it is titled "Ode to Monika" and just click on the "+" sign...

You like?

At 06:56, Blogger Miz BoheMia said...

I also just tweaked away, tidied up the sidebar and have to fix your banner now! The font that is supposed to show with the title is Brush Script but unless your computer has it it does not show so I will photoshop it in and you will have a sleek and chic title now... Off I go to work on it! Hope you like it all!

At 08:57, Blogger Minka said...

shayna...nobody has offered to help me get it back yet...hmm...I have to return to pretend-country and fight Monsineur Trigger!

Miz B. Lovely and how quickly you went to do that. Amazing teh speed you work at;) I think the only thing missing is the credits. We have to credit the poem to Brian!

At 09:06, Blogger Minka said...

Miz B. I did it. I went into the template and attributed the poem to its author. It is all so fantastic now. Thank you!

At 12:21, Blogger Miz BoheMia said...

Glad you liked it my friend! The banner is all done too and glad you were able to give credit where credit was due!

Wooooooooow! That's an amazing picture, Minka!

That reminds me of Peter Pan when he tries to find his shadow and put it back on.

My apologies for my delay of late. :(

At 18:46, Blogger Minka said...

Miz B. the banner looks great! And I am kinda learning the things you do now. Takes a little time though :)

Sar, no apologies necessary-you know that! And why, thank you!

At 21:09, Blogger Doug The Una said...

Sar! Good call! I forgot about Peter Pan and the shadow.

At 21:39, Blogger Minka said...

Have you guys read what is next to the picture of the shadow?
"Somebody nailed my shadow to the wall!"
I was playing on Peter Pan and Minkaswell is a similar fairy to Tinkerbell! What´s wrong with you people?

At 22:21, Blogger Doug The Una said...

Hey, I got 6 o'clock shadow and laughed out loud. That's good for a slow fella isn't it?

At 00:14, Blogger Minka said...

Ok...I give you that! Besides, I heard that bigger mamals think slower, and with you being such a big bear...well, I should have known!

Plural opposite of Eve.
Only with double d's.

A shadow is a great idea for a pic. Very neat!

At 03:48, Blogger Logophile said...

OOOOOoooooo, Minka! I love that shadow pic, very pretty!
And I know her, I had a book about her as a kid. One of my feminist aunties got me a book set
"American Women: Heroes" The book that featured this gal talked about her work with child labor.
She was an amazing gal.

Minka, only you can prevent forest fires.

And nice one Jamie Dawn

At 10:57, Blogger Minka said...

Jamie, that is right and I will choose this moment to reveal this mystery: Our person this week was Jane Addams! and most of you got that quite easily. Congrats to everybody and thanks for playing.

Doug, you on the other hand remain a mystery to me! Forest fires? regardless of how hard I beat my head around it, the lightbulb just doesn´t ignite!

Logo, aren´t you well read! I wish I would have had an aunt that would have thrown a decent book in my direction once in a while. Mine taught me how to milk cows though...might come in handy one of these days;)

At 19:53, Blogger Sar said...

Monika, I hope you're having a wonderful Mother's Day with your mom & extended family. :)

Okay here's a dumb thought - Mother's Day is universal, right? Not just an American Hallmark holiday, right? *feeling potentially embarassed*

At 20:44, Blogger Minka said...

no, it is all over the world. And if it is in America you can bet your sweet tiny hiny that Iceland is gonna copy it at some point.
We also have Mother´s Day in germany plus the 8th of March which is Woman´s day! And that is the extend of my knowledge on that subject:)

At 20:45, Blogger Doug The Una said...

"Only you can prevent forest fires"-Smokey the Bear, mascot of the U.S. Forest Service. Sorry. A DDR card is fair here.

At 21:49, Blogger Minka said...

I am pulling it as I am typing. I smacked my brain for that? I´ll show you fire next time you come up with something like that!

At 03:23, Blogger Doug The Una said...

I forget you're foreign. Your hygiene seems completely acceptable.

At 06:41, Blogger Ariel the Thief said...

but Doug, you are the foreign...

At 06:54, Blogger Logophile said...

Ariel, Minka, sometimes he seems awfully foreign to us over here too.
But still, we are awfully fond of him.

At 09:15, Blogger Minka said...

doug, I am not surprised, I think all people should bathe in snow!

ariel, that´s what make shim so interesting to observe.

logo, I think there is no nation that wouldn´t be proud to know Douglas, the bear! Hey, that so could be a new Disney Title...
