HNT and Thursday Brain Teaser

Happy HNT-day, everybody!

"Where are my leaves? I want my leaves right now! It is May for God´s sake! Any fig leave will do!"

and our Thursday Brain Teaser!

"From a young age he was revered for his psychic powers and started on a religious quest across Russia. The royal family of Russia welcomed him for his healing abilities, and he became their trusted advisor by 1911. During World War I, his power grew and he was virtually running the country while the czar was on the frontlines with the troops. In 1916, right-wing forces tried to kill him, fearing his influence and his debauchery. The bullets they used failed, and he had to be tossed into a river to be killed."

yay!
ok, I saw a cartoon about this guy, and he lost his ability to hypnotize due to a bad tooth (no one could understand him) so the dentist had to pull it and needed to knock him out so called for
"Anastasia"
who hit him with a mallet.
tee hee
Guess you had to be there.

Hope you find your leaves...

That poor half naked tree.....
I'll answer your teaser with Tori lyrics...

girls girls what have we done
what have we done
to ourselves
driving on the vine
over clothes lines
but officer i saw the sign
thought i'd been through this in 1919
counting the tears of ten thousand men
and gathered them all
but my feet are slipping
there's something we left on the windowsill
there's something we left yes

we'll see how brave you are
we'll see how fast you'll be running
we'll see how brave you are
yes, anastasia
and all your dollies have friends

Logo, yeah you had to be there! :) But you are nontheless right. Although in real life this person we ar elooking for had less to do with Anastasia than the czar´s wife!

shayna, well the tree is nakid and all the other trees have started pointing...

barefoot_mistress, it is getting musical in here! And check to you too. Good working with the thinking on a Thursday morning!

I know this one.....he was one scruffy looking dude....I don't know what the Czarina saw in him...except perhaps she though he could cure her son's hemophilia.

The mad monk was poisoned too, to no avail.

At 14:53, Anonymous Anonymous said...

he was very hard to kill...first he was poisoned, then stabbed, then shot, then strangled, then dumped in a river, where, it turns out, he drowned. (he might have been shot before he was stabbed, i can't quite remember...the point here is that he was VERY hard to kill!)

also, he was hung like a horse. (sorry, but that was the rumor of the day!) : D

Auntie, thatw as well done and your niece applaude fiercely :)

Hey jodes, sweety, how´s it going? :)

Doug, I just don´t get it! I need a clue for the clue!

Bjössi, hi there handsome! Back in reykjavik, I hear. The rumours always circle;) After a long thinking pause and re-reading your clue ...I would like to ask for another. I am not that bright you know! However, I know you and I know how smart you are, so I am just gonna assume that youknow the answer!

Hi Minka :-) Do you remember the cool 70's disco song with him as the main theme? Maybe not, you might have just been a baby.

I won't be dis-putin Doug's clue :-)

ahhh yes

The axe weilding russian murder chronicled in Crime and Punishment

Raskolnikov

or some other crazed russian with bad hair and a name that starts with R!

At 18:36, Blogger Minka said...

Kyahgirl, thax for that..I get it now! And yes i was tiny and apart from all that I lived in East-Germany, the songs I listened to were all in german sung by people that are old than my Mom now!

TVI, very well done. What is it about Russians and crazy hair? I know a Russian student here and let us just say that his choice of clothes, his hair and almost anything about him radiates a questionmark to me :)

LOL Bjorn. I can't stand the song you quoted but kind of like the song you refer to. oh those Russians...

At 23:19, Blogger Minka said...

Kyahgirl, I could have done without it too! Who started this obscenity? And talking about obscenity..

Ariel, a huge male reproductive organ displayed? That is the first time I hear about something naked like that. How very befitting for our Half Nakkid Thursdays!

Bjössi, not another one. Please have mercy on us Take That fans!

Doug, sometime syou donæt see what is right in your face. Besides, I always avoided religion as much as I could;)

Actonbell, there was a Russian exhibition a couple of months ago her ein reykjavik. I went and was so amazed, it was one of teh better exhibitions I have seen. Quite impressive really...that is why I chose this guy today!

There's something beautiful about a bare tree in an abstract way.

As for who the Russian person was, I'll never remember his name but I do remember reading about him.

At 05:54, Blogger Jamie Dawn said...

I know this one. His name starts with an R, and his story is one that has captured my interest for many years. He just would NOT die!!!!

Tree.. clothe thyself!

Duuuuh, I'm stumped. But I like your approach to HNT; first Otto then the tree - very creative!

Happy Friday & Happy Cinco de Mayo! Come by to play "Mi Amigo Blogger" with us when you get a chance!

At 15:54, Blogger cube said...

It starts with an R and, although some say his life never really ended, his name ends with an N. Is that too much of a hint?

At 16:37, Blogger Aisha said...

LOL at the dcaption for the tree. Now I feel sorry for it.

At 18:46, Blogger Minka said...

At 22:35, Blogger Minka said...

Doug...so telepathy your new big thing?!;)

Ariel, I have to dissapoint you I never figured out what *Rotfl* means. I always assumed it is a somewhat annoyed noise? Elaborations? I pulling my East-German card as we speak.

At 23:44, Blogger consise10 said...

RA RA, I'm hopeless at these things!

At 01:14, Blogger Doug The Una said...

Minka, no East German card for you because it's a blog abbreviation. ROTFL=Roll on teh floor laughing. TLP sent me a nice list. I bet if you ask she'll send you one.

At 03:56, Blogger Stephanie said...

I actually knew this one -- talk about overkill...

At 04:09, Blogger Tom & Icy said...

Icy was hoping it was Willie.
I'm sorry you can't get Google Earth to work. Reykjavk looks so clear that you can see the cars really clear. It does take a lot of RAM memory, best to have at least 256 and make sure DirectX is turned on. That's what makes video games work. Maybe you can find someone there to help you. Good luck.

At 14:28, Blogger Minka said...

concice 10, low self esteem you? That doesn´t fit!

Doug, i will ask her for that list!

Snav, maybe he still alive, maybe like a western Elvis kinda thing?!

Lammy, I could download it and all but than I pressed a button to a particular view and I couldn´t turn it back! But I am gonna give it another shot...It is such a great tool!

At 21:20, Blogger Kyahgirl said...
