Idol and Stiletto

Yes! Ladies and Gentlemen, it gives me great pleasure to present the Icleandic Idol 2006. His name...wait for it...Snorri Snorrason! His name is Snorri and he is the son of Snorri. We are nothing if not straight-forward in this country. Snorri is a true testiment to the Icelandic ideology that it does not matter so much how qualified you are for something, but whom and how many you know.
He has been compared to the likes of Brad Pitt and Hilmir Snær, some Icelandic acting prince. To me he is about as exciting as the prospect of ironing or polishing silver. Without the steam and sparkle!

more importantly: Happy Birthday to my favourite STILETTO!

Snorri. He sounds like someone who should be following Snow White around the wood. With a name like that, you don't have to worry about the possibility of Snorri becoming an international star!
WOW

I enjoyed your last post--and hope you enjoyed the musical event--that sounds lovely!
Fuzzy dice? I thought they went out years ago, and I agree, they can be dangerous, which is a bit ironic--those dice could cause you a bit of bad luck;)
Underwear! In the past, I didn't care, but now I really do care about my underwear, but I still hate to pay for it. Angst about underwear. Every once in awhile, I get a coupon for a free pair of panties at Victoria Secrets--they're normally about $12 ea, which is OUTRAGEOUS, but I must admit that they are the most comfy things I've ever worn. And they should NOT be flammable. Is that a ridiculous joke? "Let's see if consumers are paying attention."

doesn't he look a little the blond guy in ABBA?

I actually like it when people are called "someone the son of someone". many Arabian names says "someone the mother/father of someone". in the end makes it easier to find your way around who is who.

yeah, how the concert was? did the choir appreciate your grimaces and the half of lemon you were licking on? ;-)

Congratulations to Iceland.

Actonbell, funny about the dwarf. Ariel, it really would help at Thanksgiving and weddings if we did that.

Yeah, most of the time Iceland is just very sad.

Was going to give Doug's comment

Why does he always beat me to the great ones?

Monika, bravo to your last line! I mean the "without the steam and sparkle" - that was brilliant! He looks about the same as his name - snore zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

As for the other last line, thanks for the birthday wishes my pretty German in Iceland Sistah! :)

Is that name for real? Wow. That might be even more funny than Heino!

Actonbell...I think nobody beside sme is gonna pick up on it ;) 12 Dollars..try and see if you can get some panties here for that money. I mean quality panties. I think not!

Ariel, yes I love teh whole Daughter/ son of thing too. Just when the father has the same name as the son it seems a little ridiculous to me. Jon Jonsson is similar to John Smith, or Bill Miller or something...just even more so!
It made my friend laugh-she didn´t trip-, but the lady next to me wasn´t very impressed with my snob-skills;)

Doug, ibn?

Tryggvi, yeah! But soemtime sit is even more obvious. Itr annoyed me a little, but hey...seems to be a nice enough guy!

Pia, Dou´d comment went right over my head. I still haven´t gotten it!

Sar, thank you...I love the last line too. And you are more than welcome. sadly, you came a second to early before my pic came up. trouble yesterday night with the connection! Hop eyou are having a lovely birthday weekend. Milk it for all you can, I do!

Ap3, yes that name is for real. there are also Jon Jonsson or Agust Agustsson-I kid you not!

Minka, Ibn means son of. Bint means daughter of.

Ah, one more thing I know from showing Arabian horses. A little Arabic.

I just do NOT believe it. NOO, it can't be. Never again will I watch icelandic idol! And I mean it.
This I am writing from norway, I had to go all the way here, a 12 hours trip, to find a functioning internet connection.
Hope it will be warmer when I come back to iceland in a weeks time!
Be kissed, Monika.

Oh, SNORRI!
I hope he does not snore. If so, then his name is doubly bad.

Cowgirl, welcome here and am I right to believe this is yoru first visit. Although we know each other quite well already! I still don´t get it! What is lbn, or bint short for?

Mom, how is Norway tretaing you? Glad to know you arrived safely. Daddy left me alone yesterday for almost two hours without telling me. I just thought you should know. parental duties are lacking while youa re gone. i could be partying all night!

Concise, because he just does not look bored in this shot, he looks bire din all shots. he is infact hardly alive. I just wanna slap him and see if he could react. My friend calls him the frozen fish. I think it is very fitting :)

Miz B. Sigurdson :) Now see you´d fit right in here!

Karma, I came and saw and am still polishing my crown. It will sparkle ever so delightfully until next Sunday! I am already thinking of an answer to the puzzle at hand!

Jamie Dawn, hes trikes me as the kinda guy that considers snorring to loud a sound to be made, conciously or unconciously :) Saw an interview with his wife. Now she is a pretty lady!

As actonbell mentioned, he'll have to change his name if he wants a chance at becoming an international star. So what type of music does he perform?

At 16:47, Blogger Cowgirl said...

Ibn ("son of") and Bint ("daughter of") are not short for anything. They are actual Arabic words.

Your daughter could be called "Bint Minka."

Snorri. He sounds like he's fit in perfectly as the eighth, underrated dwarf.:)

Or, as I skim...what actonbell said.
