Still alive and kicking...

sorry about my absence, but life keeps getting in the way. When I sit here and try to think about the things I did, nothing out of the ordinary springs to mind. Yet somehow I have been so tired and exhausted the last week that I hardly turned on my computer.
When I think ahead...there is German lessons today, work tomorrow, a confirmation in the afternoon and theatre in the evening. How is a Minka to keep up with such a scedule?!
But don´t get me wrong I enjoy breathing the air on this rather crazy island and as long as there is much to do, it allows less time to overthink other things. Maybe that is why I have been keeping myself busy. It is when I start to buzz like a bee that you have to worry.
The strange thing is...you feel guilty about not being able to blog. It is quite alright with myself, since there is nothing world-changing I have to say anyway; but there is this pressure of keeping up with all the others, posting and commenting that sometimes it feels like such a high mountain to climb.
I enjoy having some time now and just sit down, relax with some coffee and meet up with the rest of you. It just amazes me how much of our stress in life is self-inflicted?!

But to other things, as most of you know I have received an answer-as has my sister- about the acting job. It is nothing major but takes quite a while to film. So when I come back from Germany (23rd of April) I´ll be real busy looking lovely:) I know nothing about the parts yet, but I imagine sitting at a table, drinking coffee- next to the famous actress, providing background to her speech. But it sure will be fun and I have never done anything like it, so I am rather looking forward to it. Am I nervous? I can stand infront of 30 teenagers, teaching them something they don´t wanna know and get away with it! I think I´ll be fine :)
Now I´ll be off to catch up with the rest of you. And here is something a lovely girl told me yesterday, which made me smile:

"Sometimes, me and my psychotic nature like to be alone, ignoring the rest of the normal world orbiting away!" (It was in Icelandic, but I think this is a translation that she would like:)

The countdown to my 20.000 visitor is on!

Great quote. Nice to have your psychotic nature back online. You'll do great in April.

"It just amazes me how much of our stress in life is self-inflicted?!" it's so true, Monika. there MUST be a door somewhere...

Probably the greater part of our stress is self-induced or at least self-originated. And sometimes it is good to just take a temporary break from any activity. Just make sure that you keep coming back here after any such break here. ;)

I did say and I will say it again: Isn´t it nice to have a full life, to know that everybody is looking forward to seeing you? Inside and outside the bolg. No need for stress.
Mom who knows all the answers ;)

Bro, thank you for the belief!

Ariel, well if one door closed a window somewhere opens :) depending on the perspective you can always find a way!

Tim, I am always glad to be back and I like the feeling of missing you guys as well. It shows me that you are so much more to me than people on the internet!

Mom, It is right in a way. I do have more of a life than I had in quite some time. And I enjoy it very much, buas I try to say in my quote, sometimes everybody needs a corner to crawl in and do nothing but stare or read or think or what ever it is people do in corners! :) It was lovely driving with you to the countryside. You, me, Johnny Cash and teh stars...we had quite a night!

Apparently I am visitor number 19.985. :)

Hope you have fun but yes, it can be so time consuming and tiring at times! Ooooh! You should post the shot of you here on your site! Yeah baby yeah! We wanna celebrate and DANCE THE DANCE ELECTRIC! YOU KNOWS IT!

Since I'm new here, I didn't know there was an absence. That doesn't mean I can't relate. There is a pressure to keep up. Blogging is very fast paced. Sometimes I get exhausted just thinking about it.:(

Actonbell, mine was the pleasure and a good post it was!

Janet, I hear you and we´ll just use Miz. B´s trick: BREATHING!!! :) That will help us!

Logo, i do enjoy almost all the time being here and blogging with my buddies all ove rthe world. I added a little new world map in my sidebar, it is quite interesting since I can see where from and how often my most loyal readers appear. Fantabulous stuff!

I understand. I'm about to get really busy myself & I hope everyone will understand my absence. It's not psychotic... it's necessary...sometimes.

Hi my dearest! I did a little template tweak for you and me (Sar taught me this one!) that I have been meaning to do for a while now... very simple... I just lowered the top sidebar a space as it was stuck to the banner! Hope it's ok! If you prefer it the other way, tell me and back it goes! I just cannot do something that feels like an improvement for me and leave my sister out! Oh no! *GASPETY GASP*

Cube, have a good life outside the blogsphere and i will be awaiting your return anxiously!

Miz, B. "To tweak, or not to tweak..." well, it usually is the former;) As always you did a great job and you are right it does look less clustered.

Please remember us little people when Hollywood comes calling and stardom hits u. 'Queen of the Universe', wasn't that a job u always wanted?

Wow! Close to 20,000 visitors! Good for you.

Tryggvi, yes especially the little people I will remember. They seem to have teh most troubles ;)

Johnboy, That was so sweet and caring, you made my heart all fuzzy and warm inside. Thank you for that delightful comment. And you are right. The concerns of this blog are me, my family my friends. I know the rest of the world is out there too, but soemtimes it just doesn´t make sense to me. Other times it upsets me so much, that I can´t find words to fit my feelings. So I ahve settled on me and things that directly concern me...I have no other option but making sense of myself. Apparetnly when I was born I decided that me and myself for eternity. Better make that work!
Thank you again for your kind comment and I am glad you found me!

TLP, I hit it already. Feel like the Da Vinci Code! :) Read by a lot of people;)

20,105 here! Darn weekend away, I missed my chance at a crown here.

I completely understand and can relate to blogexhaustion. Part of why it gets to folks like us is that we like to virtually hang with bloggers we've struck up friendships with. So the guilt stems from potentially letting down your friends. But in reality as I thought on it, they're the ones who not only matter the most, but will be there when you return as if you never left when you need time away. :)

At 21:40, Blogger Sar said...

Oh! And congrats on your forray into the acting world - I want to hear all about it! :)

I can't manage to do only one thing at a time and I have a laptop, so I read blogs while doing several other things (writing reports and updating programs for work, checking e-mails, etc. and when the BF and I are watching T.V. Last week, he took my laptop off my lap, handed me the crossword puzzle and a pen and told me I needed to spend more time in reality. So I have been limiting my blogtime too...it's not such a bad thing. I read an ACTUAL BOOK again yesterday...I used to do that all the time.
Glad to have you check in here though. Can't wait to hear what happens with your new acting career!

Sar, exactly...but friends know that you love them even though you are not always visible. However, blogging depends on receiving as giving feedback. An interactive blog at least, which I always considered mine to be. I think-yet again- it is all baout finding a healthy balance :) Besides, I always hate it when I arrive late to a party or miss something :)

Sqauregirl, can´t remember teh last time I did a crosswordpuzzle. But i do read actual books...a lot...not sure that reading books brings you to teh real world though ;)

The school that I went to in California used to be used alot as a shooting location, so I got to see a good bit of it. It's alot of sitting around waiting for scenes to be set up ... but we students still hung around, hoping to get a close-up look at the actors!

At 21:36, Blogger Sar said...

Exactly, Monika, and right back at ya! :)

I've been busy too. This past weekend was a whirlwind, but it was very nice. My daughter is recovering from her sinus surgery. Life just keeps trucking along...
Stay busy! Life is better that way.

3D, well now you know an almost famous one, who will send you a signed autograph if you insist. Beats standing in line ;)

Sar, Diddo!

Jamie Dawn, good luck with her recovery. I didn´t know about teh surgery. Glad to hear everything went well.

Ariel, my internet connection is down. I have about a 10 minutes access to teh internet each day, before it gives up on me! On Friday a man is gonna come and sort it out! Now I am at work and I have a little time to go comment on some blogs!

I hope the best for your computer! when I have connection problems, first I want to die. after a day or two I realize I am free. but the problem is usually solved before I could actually start living like a free person. :-)

Hey congratulations on 'getting the part'. It will be an experience to say the least, and something you can definately tell a story or two about down the track. As for the blogging thing,I wouldnt worry too much about 'keeping up' we are a loyall bunch and for 'whatever' reasons you do not blog sooner or later you`ll comeback to it and your readers will return too.
love the 'Icelandic quote' and it makes perfect sense too.
