OH MY GOD...

I am all cried out. My computer did not let me connect over the weekend...out of pure spite, I can only assume. Boy, did I abuse it verbally. But when I turned it on this morning, it kinda worked, not very well, but it works. And people tell me you don´t get anywhere with yelling. Ts!

The reason for this entry? Good news and bad news.
Let´s start with the good news. To soften the blow a little. I bought my first car, yes I did. It is not very new and two people did own it before me, but I love it and it is all mine. Not the bank´s, just mine!

I had my heart set on a Toyota Yaris, the car to own in Iceland. I tried it and I don´t know why we cry Halleluja everytime soembody talks about it. It is boxy, too light, cold interior and just not my thing at all. It uses little petrol, that is the only plus I can think off. So after trying several cars, I sat into a beautiful dark green vehicle and as soon as I started to drive: I knew I found him. ´This is my car´, I explained to the world at large. The world did not care in particular, but I beamed with joy. So, I now am a proud owner of a dark-green Honda Civic, 5 doors, heavy and smooth in the curves. What a car! I am on love people. You see, I was born into very poor circumstances and never imagined I would some day own a car of my choice. This is huge for me!

Now, this is were you come in. We need to name my baby! It is a HE, there is no question about it. I shouldn´t be left doing the naming, ´cause quite frankly, I name everything in sight "Charlie". My computer, various Teddies, my stereo...let´s just say it is pretty monotone greeting all the things in my room. Bad news for you, good news for me! Now put your thinking caps on and send loads of wonderful suggestions into the comment section. I will then pick my favourite, post a picture of "momentary Charlie" along with his new name. What do you get in return? My gratitude, a free ride from the airport to Reykjavik when you step foot on this ice-cube and of course: whenever I drive him, I´ll be reminded of you!

Ooooh juicy! BoheMians haven't done any thinking in a while! Now this is a project worth dusting the brain off for!

Soooo glad you are connected again! We have such problems here constantly.

I emailed you a link to how to make it work so I can do the tweaking for you because right now I cannot access the template nor the settings! Hope you got it!

Many kisses to my sistah!

Congrats on your car. I named my first car Freaky (long story). I think you should name your car Icemobile, or Icy for short.

Congratulations, Minka!

My pickup (also dark green) is so full of breadcrumbs, I should call it Hansel but since you are probably clean, I like the name Otto. Not because of some lame "Auto" pun. Just because I like Otto. Plus, if it becomes a Pez you can spell it backwards without thinking too much.

How about William after your favourite author! :-)

Oooh! Combine them! Chichihonotto!

No, I am not high... I swear!

I'll have to think on this one. For kicks how about this to compliment your newly single status...

Congratulations! Hey, you can't go wrong with a Honda Civic.

Well, you're sure it's a boy. That's a start. How about "Digory" from The Magician's Nephew?

At 23:10, Blogger TLP said...

How 'bout Romeo? Romeo because it will take you roaming around and Romeo because you're in love with it.

At 23:20, Blogger Tryggvi said...

Congrats on the car! I'm sure u have made a good choice, I have always secretly wanted to own a Civic. But my dear, there is but one name for this car: CLINT

Think about it, Clint will never let u down, he is masculine, tough and lets face it, he will kick people's arses. Just think of the bumper sticker: "You feel lucky?"

Carl because its a car or Adam because its your first one.

Wow, you guys...there are some great ideas, I couldn´t have thought of myself but instantly love.
Internet connection has been a bitch, I have been online for 20 minutes today and that´s it!
But alas, I took the nightshift and now I have 8 hours to roam your blogs, comment and make up for my unwanted absence. The old people will just have to survive another night :)

Miz B. I can´t access my e-mail. I am sure it was a lovely mail, but I have no way of knowing. I swear to God, somebody is gonna die soon!

Karma, I like the idea of Ice somehow be involved with the name. Vanilla Ice just brings back bad memories though! First crush and everything...

Miz B. Henry...sounds like an Englsih servant, hmm Kinda like it!

auntie, I so will see you. That is amazing that you are coming and I can give you a real life hug! Drottninga billinn is a good choice. But I tend to talk and greet my car when I go out and "Hey, Queens car!" is not doing it so much for me. Nevertheless, it will be a car fit for the Queen!

Cube, I love Icy and I thought of it. But there is a beautiful dog called Icy here in the blogsphere and I don´t wanna steal his uniqueness. Good choice though!

Miz B. Chi CHi is very good!

Kolbrún, Hon has such a feminine touch to it for my ears. I hear hon and I think "can you get me a beer from the fridge while you are up!" On another note: How are you? Haven´t heard from you in quite a while. Still in Scotland?

Doug, they say geniuses pick green ;) Anonymous below told me :) I like Otto, very much. When I saw "momentary Charlie" I got a Palli vibe. Palli is an Icelandic nickname for Paul...

anonymous, hi sweety! There are few people that know my favourite writer :) William, is very English, very posh...me likes it. Maybe we could combine it with William von....and have something German following it?!

Miz Bohemia, that is a nono! It is not a Japanese car :)

Ariel, a SNAKE? *queen brakes out in sweats, fever setting in* Monika has a snake phobia since childhood. But I am working on it! I could name my car "William von Auto"!

Sar, very nice...but try to say that 10 times really fast ;)

Kerstin, Erdbaer ist absolut genial. Ich liebe Erdbeeren und vermisse sie sehr. Giebt es im April schon Erdbeeren in Deutschland? Ich fahre naemlich ueber Ostern!

Ap3, Digory? I can feel Digory...nice ring to it! Thank you for that suggestion!

TLP, I don´t think so. There is an Alpha Romeo and let´s face it...that is just cheating on my new car! :)

Tryggvi, that is a fantabulous name! But you know that I can´t take it now that you suggested it?! You must know me by now:)

Hi Rike, How´s Norway doing these days? Carl not my thing, Adam is very nice though. But let´s face it he was a wuzz back in Paradise :)

Thank you guys so much for all this stuff, it truly has been fun!
The competition is still open though and runs until the weekend. It takes me some time to make up my mind :)

At 00:42, Blogger Tryggvi said...

I know. Still, I couldn't very well sit on it could I? If my suggestion is out then I must give my support to Doug's suggestion, Otto. Its cool, even if it sounds a bit like a name for a hippo or a rhino. Oops.. does this mean Otto is out too??

Congrats on the vehicle purchase...I too just bought a honda civic (dark silvery grey), but I haven't found a good name for him (mines a him too) yet. I had a Jetta for five years and it was always "The Jett" and my civic is still "The Civic", so I obviously don't have anything very creative to add...oh by the way, about that snake phobia...I too used to have a major one, so when I found out from Joseph Campbell that the snake represents life, I thought, "Now that's no good" so I bought a small plastic snake to help me overcome my fear...it sounds crazy but I thin it's working! I used to freak out when I saw or touched the plastic snake but now it hangs out on my nightstand and I haven't had a snake nightmare in over a year!

At 01:25, Blogger Minka said...

Tryggvi, will you just let those names be! :) No, Otto is still in, though.

squaregirl, finally soembody who understands what i am talking about. My phobia was so bad that I couldn´t see a snake in Tv without gettign major anxiety attacks. But I made a concious decission of watching National Georgaphie and Animal planet. Now I know so much about snakes, that they seem less frightening. Mom had a wooden one in our home and I always hide it! She finds it and puts it back on its spot and then I hide it again...a little snake games we are playing.

At 01:49, Blogger Tim Rice said...

Congratulations, Monika, on your car purchase. I sometimes think a Honda Civic might be my next car; but who knows I may stick with Saturn.

This talking about snakes in the comment section reminds me of when I and some of my siblings as young kids tried to bring a dead black snake into our house but Mom locked us out. We still laugh over that. :)

The phobia talk also makes me think of one of my aunts who if she saw a mouse in her house she would get up on her kitchen table and scream. I think we all have our own quirks.

As for naming your car, I'm afraid I will not be of any help. Naming things just isn't my gift. But best of luck!

At 02:16, Blogger Minka said...

Tim, thank you...many suggetsions have been made and I feel if many more come, I´ll be where I started. Too little , or too much- both difficult to handle:)
Mice and spiders...no problem.
I think with snake sit is about their teeth for me. The idea of teh bite itself and the poison running through my blood-stream. I don´t like needles either.

At 02:49, Blogger Alana said...

For me it's that they sliver...near your ankles! Okay not to steer this car talk into another direction, but I once saw a snake regurgitate a recently swallowed mouse...I was like six and I will never forget it.

1. The Green Meanie
2. Godzilla
3. Calvin

Your very own car, Minka!!
(I love that version of your name)
How awesome is that??!
Can you even believe it? Are you still in blissful shock?
I am so happy for you, major moment, savor it, my friend!
Now, as to name,
Larry the Lime

And as to your question,
Bob Barker is an American game show host who is a very active advocate of pets being spayed and neutered.

Squaregirl, I once was in Portugal and I almost drove onto the car infront of me, becuase it abruptly stopped. A Portugese guy came out and bend over something in the street. He lifted up a snake behind her head and put it into his car!!! I was so shocked, scared and whatnot...I didn´t move the car for a long time, causing a major traffic havoc in a beach area! Ah, memoried :)

Jamie Dawn...Thank you! And I love Calvin!

logophile, yeah...big bro did good work when he came up with Minka :) He´s good with words, that one!
I still can´t believe it and I drive it with pride. I bought all sorts of stuff for it to keep it clean and tidy and I already made an oil check and stuff. This is coming from a girl that couldn´t name all the lights in the back of a car! I am in heaven...car heaven that is!
Bob Baker...it all makes sense now!

OK! Youhave to make me a "blog administrator" for this thing to work because right now I cannot access the template and the settings! I will be in and out in no time, when I am done I will tell you so you can take me off.

Go here!

Ooooh! My suggestions were liked! Gotta get serious now and think up some good stuff!

Yeah baby yeah!

I wanna kill your internet connection and the evil trolls that won't let you see your email! I am distraught, DISTRAUGHT!!!!!

Miz B. You are officially an administrator on my blog...now do your thing. My shift is over and I am off home...without a connection. Will be back tomorrow at midnight...my time of course :)

I am DOOOONEEEEE!

I did my tweaking and so now you can email your posts or others have that option (great for increasing traffic).

If you click on "Link to this Royal Decree!" it takes you just to that post and enables you to get an HTML link to that specific post.

You are the only one who can see a pencil icon when you are logged in. That is the quick edit feature which, when clicked on, takes you straight into your blogger post to edit it if you need to.

I allowed comments to ve pop-up windows so that people can go straight back to your site by closing the window.

.... and you will get emailed all comments in addition to them being recorded in your blog. This way you have more control and if someone leaves a comment in an old post you will be notified and can answer back if you so wish.

Hope you like it!!!!

Wow! Your midnite is our 1 am so I won't be up to chat so I suppose I shall "see you" in the morning!

Love you much!

PS- You can kick me out now! ;-P

Well my dear it is still the Drottnigar Bill.....You are the Queen.....so you are(Queen)....therefore it is(Drottnigar Bill/Queens Car)If you will not call it DB,how about Jeves. You can with nose up in the air, eyelids and upper lip lovered and say with a slight nasal sound "to the Laugar, if you would Jeves" or "To the Haskolabio/College Theatre Jeves they are having the trilogy of the Lord Of The Ring, it will take about 10 hours so Jeves make yourself comfortable while I am away". Jeves would only say "Yes Madam" Otto would say "No,no I will not be left waiting for 10 hours in a strange place" Harry would say "Royalty....Harry and Henry are royal names....will not be left in an unfamiliar place for 10 hours, Huffff" Remeber you are the Queen :) Here ends my case for Jeves.

Okay it's a bit of a stretch, so bear with me here. Your car is green. It's a huge thrill to own your very own car of choice. Jolly Green Giant (it's a US character for food - mostly vegetables but that's beside the point - stay with me here) but Jolly Green Giant is kind of, um, gay for your masculine car so take it a step further to Andre who was a famous giant, and further from that we have many sexy Andres to relate to, and more importantly I can say it 10 times fast!

So...ANDRE! *whew* can I at least get an A for effort?

Miz B. lovely to have you sneaking around in my territory while I am sleeping. And I mean that in a lovely way. You did great and I always wondered how you manage those Link to this.. thingies. Now I don´t have to wonder anymore...I just decree you to do it for me :) I love you too and thank you for all your help with this boodylicious, hot-looking, funky and entertaining template. I´ll keep you posted when I feel updates are ready :) And I will leave you at administrator level. Here is why! When I go to Germany for 10 days in April I´ll have you talk to people for me!

At 17:31, Blogger Minka said...

And the suggestions just keep on coming. I am kinda jeallous that you guys can have ideas my brain seems incapable of producing. But last night I thought of Mortimer. I kinda like that, too!

anonymous, I loooovee Dumbledore! Why didn´t I think of that?

Miz B. That would mean Doug would have it his way and what are little sisters for? They have to defy their big brother! But Minka is catching on quickly and you know what? I like it. Don´t tell him that though, ego and everything;)

auntie, now Jeves is a brilliant suggestion!"I feel inclined to take a stroll in the park, Jeeves. Pray tell, would you mind to wait for me until the sun has sat. I will make it my purpose in life, your highness!" Yeah I can see it! He´s a little cheeky too, which I like!

You get an A++ for effort. I like teh name Andre, well I did until peter Andre entered teh music sphere. Putting me off a little to be frank. But your suggestion has brought me to another idea: how about the BFG! The big friendly giant. A character from Roald Dahl-you know the guy that wrote Charlie and the Chocilate factory!?

ásgeir, Love it! Manfred says everything that needs to be said!

Doug, yes Calvin made the cut immediately! I think I have narrowed it down to five options. I´ll make a post and everybody can vote on those 5. The name that has most votes is gonna be it. Thank you guys for playing and enjoying this huge chapter in my life with me!

I would be honored, HONORED! Woweee! For you, anything my sistah!

I meant the name would be Minkus, just trying to be cute by saying Minka's Minkus (*bats luscious lashes*) and hey, I gotta try to sell the name too! ;-P

Or Minky...

Or Harold...

Or Harry...

Or Ziggy... my cat's called Ziggy Barley... loooooveeee that name!

I'm just sayin'! :-)

Hondas are great cars, glad you found one you love. Around here, you spend so much time in your car that it's important to like the vehicle.

I am no good with names. As my kids can attest.

But this is all good news. What is the bad news? Your bad computer?
