I am back...

Just wondering how often I have used this title over the last half year! But I am.
I was baby-sitting two lovely guys and they were great. Absolutely adorable. I told them to do their homework and they did, I told them to go to sleep and they did and I told them to eat their dinner which they did. Weird!

It seems to me that it is now between Otto and Calvin. And I need to wait for one deciding vote. I am glad that Mortimer got three more votes ;) And thinking about voting: how did Bush get elected? No, just kidding! I am up for Caption-Finalist on Sar´s page. It is the second time, but this time it seems I am getting some votes, so why don´t you go over there and really like my caption? :) Pretty please with sugar on top?

Now I am off to:
a) read your blogs and do some catching up
b) take a picture of "momentary Charlie" so I can post it here. I gave him a bath yesterday and he looks stunning!
c) say "Hi" to Mom and have breakfast with her!

Happy Saturday everybody!

Oooooweeee! I AM FIRST!

Happy Saturday and welcome back! I missed you!

I got a note from your mom saying you were in the country! Glad to hear the boys behaved!

Ooooh! Otto or Calvin? Cannot wait for the final unveiling of the name!

Why did you not like Minkus? WHY?!?!? Hmmph!

Just thought I'd add some drama! What are MIz Bs for then?

Welcome back! When I started reading I thought you were describing Polyandry.

Hi Miz B. I am glad to be back and have all you guys again. Well, since my name Minka is catching on everywhere, I thought naming my car Minkus would just be...hmmm narcistic?

Doug, they are 10 and 12! I think that would be tickling the law a little! Besides I always had more of a thing for older guys.

You're back - yay! Want to come watch the mommy mobile next? Kidding. My first car was a used black Buick Skyhawk with a sunroof. I never named it (okay I nicknamed it but it's not appropriate for public discussion). Every Saturday morning I had it at the carwash. The Mommy Mobile? Not so much.

(that's wash the mommy mobile)

I am going insane with my car. Every week it has a date when it goes to the carwash. I have cleansing-towels for the inside and differetn ones for the outside. I bought a snow removed with adjustable length and ...need I go on.
People are satrting to fear for my sanity. :) I love it!

When you get tired of washing your car you can come wash my parents' trailer, the 4x4, the minivan, the car. Bro's got a couple of SUV's. There's a car down in my parking spot too that could use a spit shine.

Hey - do you do windows?

Jenna, There is a car in our driveway that could use a cleansing from teh inside-my Mom´s. But I don´t have any energy for that. Ask me to wash my car again and I am on it!

Hi Monika, I've been back from a recon mission in Birjand, Iran for 2 hours. Weather is cool. Emotions are hot. This five hour break from intense negotiations is much appreciated. Hey, I vote for Otto. The name Calvin reminds me of Calvin Coolidge, the man who served as the twenty-ninth Vice President as well as the thirtienth President of the US. He was a man who belonged to the 20th century. Your car is here and now.

Well, since you put sugar on top, I guess I'll vote for you!

Hi, monika. I thought it interesting that "William" at least so far has not gotten one vote. Maybe, I should change my vote to William so he wouldn't be quite so lonely. ;)

And many the children you babysitted behaved so well because you're such a neat person. How's that for buttering you up? :)

Hey! I want to see a picture of Temporary Charlie!

I demand to see a picture!

WTMM, Otto seems to be a favourite and it bugs me that my big bro suggested it :)

TlP, I knew that sweets would win you over any time! :)

Tim, I love William as well. Just somehow it is not that popular amongst my fellow bloggers and I always follow mainstream ;)

Johnboy, look who´s talking Mr. three weeks away-coming here and making demands for Trivia. That is what we like! I am gonna put a Quiz up later today to make up for last Thursday as well!

Doug, you know that dogs who bark don´t bite, right!? :)

I wish I could get my own kids to do that. Can you come over and train them?

Actonbell, you have come to the right person. Terry Pratchett is my territory and I can assist to a greta degree. I think you will enjoy him. The Discworld series does not need to be read in any particular order I think. There are re-occuring characters all the time and he does a job at re-introducing them every time.
Although I am a hard-core fan there are some Discworld noevls I don´t like...I think about two or three of them. But that might just be a personal thing, or I am missing something.
personally, I like the witches Characters
1.Shakespeare is a great influence for instance in "Wyrd Sisters"-the opening chapter in that book has always been one of my favourites!
2. If you like to combine a bit of Feminism and Fun "Equal Rites" is a fantastic read.
3. Fairytales are put under a magnifying glass in "Witches Abroad"

I recommend these with passion. But others about the "Wizzard Rincewind" and the Police Force in Ank Morpork are equally entertaining. Your pick, you can hardly go wrong. Any more questions and I´d be thrilled to answer them! Get ready to view our world sceptically in a very funny way!

Monika for once I can´t agree with you. I would read the pratchett novels in their right order as you find the same characters again and they develop. But- they get better and better as time goes on. So you have something to look forward to!

I thought for sure I'd find a picture of "Temporary Charlie" along with the announcement of his new name! I know, it's because it's going to be Otto, and we just can't allow your big bro to win two contest the same day (ie Karma's). ;)

happy saturday (even though I am responding on a Sunday). I am soooo looking forward to photos of momentary charlie, most likely "otto" (a really good name, by the way).

Hope your breakfast with mom was lovely!

Looking forward to photos and an official name of momentary Charlie!

Actonbell, it was my pleasure.

Mom, then we both have to agree to disagree. :)
If i would have started reading Pratchett in the right order I would have given up after the Light Fantastic (which is the second novel). If you remember we all started with "Feet of Clay" which I brought home from University adn it didn´t do any harm or spoil anything! After that I knew his talent and although I encounteres some not so good books along the way I would read them because I knew he´d be developing as a writer as well.

sar, I fear for his Ego. I mean he will started writing letters to politicians and Hollywood stars requesting an audience. It will be tough bringing him down. But at least he can´t win the caption contest next Tuesday :)

Sqauregirl, and a Happy Monday to you! God I really need to post that picture now. But first it is work.

Hey, now! I'm as humble as can be! I'm humble as 10,000 African Villages, as humble as the waters that carve canyons through the desert, humble as the grains of sand that fill the beaches the draw the multitudes to the seashore!

Besides, I voted for Calvin.

At 17:38, Blogger Minka said...

Doug, we were only joking no reason to get defenisive;)
The actual reason why the oic is late is that I dropped my digital camera last weekend and it doesn´t do anything I want at the moment...hence I have to borrow one. I did and things are moving now!

I was trying to be funny, Minka, which I humbly admit to having failed at. Let's see the pic!
