Busy Beaming with Pride!

My last Quiz proved too easy for you guys and it made me think. How much do I really know about the States? Granted, I took an American literature course at the university and one culture course, can point ot every single State on a map,but am I as ignorant of America as we Europeans claim those Americans are of Europe? So I took this test and am instantly gonna apply for a working permit, a green card and stuff like that:) But first of all I´m gonna go downtown and pledge my allegiance to the flag infront of the only guarded embassy here in Reykjavik. "Oh, say can you see, by the dawn's early light...*mumble, mumble*"

You Passed the US Citizenship Test

Congratulations - you got 8 out of 10 correct!

I dare you all to take this test and those of you who fail will be presented with a one-way ticket to Greenland:) It is easier for me to visit you there :)

You impress me again.

What a fabulous test! I took it and got seven right, which means I an qualified to be an American. And the anthem I almost know by heart. I was watching boxing last saturday live from Las Vegas and the final bout was between a Philippino and a Mexican. So they sang the Mexican anthem and the Philippino one. And then they sang the American one as well. That about sums it up, doesn't it? So we'll meet tonight to pledge the alligence..

Monika I failed it the first time! I was about to put in my request for my one-way trip to Greenland when determination kicked in. So I took again and got 9/10. Of course I brushed up & read this first. I have no idea which one I got wrong though.

I passed! But then again, it shouldn't surprise me since I already did it all for real and am a citizen... is that cheating?

*GASP* My goodness!

9/10 - But know I want to know which one I got wrong!

I forgot to mention that I was a little disappointed in my score...I'd love to visit Greenland!

9/10. Darn.

How could no-one yet make a joke to the effect that you pass with any score below 50?

At 23:39, Blogger Minka said...

Doug, thank you. I took a German quiz and failed:)
Tryggvi, yes I know the entire first line adn a few words here and there. We´ll juts make it up as we go along! :)
Sar, I really wanted you closer!
Miz Bohemia...I am glad you passed, I wouldn´t wanna upset you anymore, since I know that youa re on the verge of an eruption in regards to in-laws ;)
manchego, the university here is offereing a trip for 50.000 KR in February, should I put your name down? :)
Doug, you don´t pass...I just checked it and you must have 7 right to pass!
Fred, from a teacher to a teacher...you´d better revise that and take the test again, otherwise I might publish a comment on your blog which all your students will read :)
Actionbell...welcome here. What an honour. Another PEZ! The constitutionwas written 11 years after you won your independence :)
Sarah, You passed, which probably the average American would not! Your country is proud of you :) Science is so much more than knowing that the preamble is the preface to the constitution...nobody in their right mind reads that anyway

Can´t you for once have a test I could possibly pass?
Mom

Actionbell, I tried to go to your blog, but I can´t really see it. There is nothing but the header and a bit of some posts at the very bottom of the page. IS it just me?

At 02:31, Blogger Minka said...

Mom, don´t worry..you would kick our asses if there was a test in knitting patterns and needle point precision ;)

At 03:41, Blogger Lila said...

I got 10/10... Which surprises me! I made a couple of good guesses.

For you to get 8/10 is amazing. I thought that was pretty tricky.

Well AP3, I had a course at university that was called American history and culture. The teacher in that course was one that would ask questions like...The flag of the United States has three colours and stars and stribes: what is the common needle stich that is used to sow it together? Yeah! One had no choice to learn the book of by heart!

You did very well for someone from Greenland. I would hate to see my score if I took a Greenland Citizenship Test ;-)

Cube, I hope you are joking...if not: ICELAND!!! my friend.

At 16:59, Blogger cube said...

So sorry, Monika. But you see that proves my point! I would score terribly... ;-)

You did great!

At 22:58, Blogger Minka said...

Cube, you are forgiven this glacial oversight. :)

I flunked.. is there a re-test?

At 12:40, Blogger Minka said...

Canadian Dude...I thought you´d be proud to flunk it. After all you are Canadican and not American. You can re-take the test anytime...I re-took it once yesterday and got 9/10 and it drives me insane that I don´t know which one I am answering wrong!

I'm being overlooked. This is why we had to declare our independence from Iceland in 1776.

At 15:18, Blogger Minka said...

Doug, sweety, I don´t know how that could´ve happen! I am utterly sorry -I offer thee Iceland as a colony to the States. There! Feel better?

At 15:38, Blogger Tom & Icy said...

We got 8 of 10 also.
BTW "Get thee to a nunnery" is from Shakespeare's Hamlet.

At 16:17, Blogger Minka said...

Yes, that is right. Thank you Icy for giving me peace of mind! I should have known though! And Icy...that might be the highest score for an American dog! And if we have to multiply it by 7...well, you won us all!

At 20:46, Blogger Sar said...

Monika - come on over, I have a surprise for you!

At 23:06, Blogger Minka said...

I know what that means...I´ll be there! Count me in...I am already dancing!!! Maybe I shouldn´t jump like that with my computer on my lab!!!

At 23:37, Blogger Doug The Una said...

I feel a little better.

Shouldn't the Thursday brain teaser be up?
