Attention!!!

Most of you have probably heard about this Canadian girl that died ´cause she kissed her boyfriend who had eaten a peanut butter sandwich 9 hours before. She was allergic to that weird thingy people on the other side of the Atlantic seem to enjoy.
Since I have a strong desire to live on my 30ies birthday - because I wanna know what all the fuss is about- I have a CINNAMON allergy and it can kill me. So in case any of you intend on kissing me or surprising me with cookies, cakes or other sweets...Please make sure that cinnamon is not part of the ingredients. Otherwise my spirit will haunt you during all those moments you wish you were alone!!!

p.s Happy Birthday TLP!

Really? Seriously? Cinnamon? Okay, I'll be careful.

Cinnamon? That's scary Monika. So by your post, I take it that Icelanders don't like peanuts as a general rule? How about pecans and walnuts?

It's Mireille you have to be careful of. Stay away from her xoxo until you know which scent she's wearing. Funny, Aral.

AP3, yes and so far it is my only known allergy. I am special I guess ;)And especially around Christmas I have to be extra carful, since they like to put cinnamon in a lot of stuff!
Jen, I think we like peanuts, all sorts of nuts really. Just not in a creamy variety on top of bread for breakfast. Oi-bara!
Doug, so that is the smell that surrounds me whenever I comment on your blog, it is her!?

oh, and cinnamon is so yummy! I'll remember to be careful!

Well, it is kinda weird. I never liked the smell and as a kid I avoided it without knowing I had an allergy. I never tasted the typical milkrice with cinnamon, that every child loves.
Only later did doctors discover that I had this allergy and I -by instinct- never got into trouble, because the smell alone pushed me miles away!

First I've heard of an allergy like that! My daughter is allergic to dust. Of all the allergies, she had to pick that one. So, we're always cleaning. What a pain.

Fred, dust is hard to avoid! It must be quite bad, because you need to be really tidy. And there is hardly anything you can do about it. At least you can avoid eating peanuts or cinnamon.
The horrible thing about food allergies though is that you can die...once in your mouth and down your throat they make your toungue swell or your throat contricts and you can suffocate quite quickly.
What a morbid topic indeed...
I wonde rif this Canadian girl knew about the allergy herself. Sometime sthose thingies just get dicovered by accident or when it is too late.

Keith, I did not know that! Many city kids are allergic to animals and as soon as a trip to the countryside becomes reality you have them sniffing like hell...
Oranges? I couldn´t live without the smell and taste of oranges around Christmas, but if my life depended on it...well, juts be careful!

Ever since I read (previously) about your allergy, Monika, a little part of me feels apologetic every time I douse my cappaccino from Starbucks with extra cinnamon. I have no known allergies, but I am severely repulsed by coconut. The texture, the taste *shudder*. So I just say I'm allergic to it. Though I will make an exception for a pina colada in the islands.

Well, how about getting some "anti-venom" or some kinda shot thingy and keep around for emergencies? Ef ég man rétt þá hef ég beðið þig um þetta áður!!

Dear Monika makes it sound so simple, but her terrible experience was that she once nearly left us because of a slice of dark bred with a touch of cinnamon in it. Luckily she was at work with a doctor and life rescueing things around her. After that I threw all kinds of cinnamon out of the cupboard, because up til then I thought that was just a "I don´t like..."
Take care! Mom

Sar, I dislike coconut with a passion. The flavour is just disgusting to me. So I make it an allergy in training :)
Tryggvi, I promised you that I would, but we were together than. Now I don´t have to keep it anymore ;)
Mom, I knew you´d bring that one up. I really shouldn´t tell you these things, ´cause you always use them against me at some point ;) Thanx for caring though and throwing all that cinnamon out!!!

I've been busy. Just catching up on reading here.

Thanks for the b-day wishes.

Yes, it was sad about that girl! Pretty amazing. You'll have to ask every guy BEFORE you kiss him, to list all that he has eaten recently.

From what I can see, not many blogs talk about stuff like hepa air filter i205 and that is sad. I think your blog is great that way.

keep it up.
