This painting is by Svavar Guðnason and reminds me of home. Of all the fields after the harvest and how they look like patchwork.
Today, Vida and I decided to be sophisticated and went to see the art museum in Reykjavik.
On entering a woman welcomed us joyfully and pressed a mobile phone into our hands. Yes, a mobile phone!
I couldn´t be that lucky.
Since I had no idea what to do with such a device in a museum I felt the need to inquire.
Apparently, some of the paintings had a phone number besides them which one could call, were one so inclined and get information about the painting and the artist behind it.
I had the walkman and cd-player version, but the mobile thing was new. It was very funny to see the guests standing apart from each other, all with a phone to their ears. Just funny.
Otherwise the exhibition was fantastic.
For thos eof you that know little about icelandic art I suggest you google the names Kjarval or Erró.
I had a fun day and feel like I widened my horizon.

Sounds as if you had a fun day. I've used a system in a museum that whatever painting you were standing in front of it somehow caused your "phone" to recite information about that painting. Yes, it is funny to see everyone silently walking around, "phone" to ear, staring at art.

I think that whole mobile phone thing has something to with us, although I'm not sure. The Boss was talking about some project with the museum the other day, but I wasn't paying attention. What I can tell you is that I happened to be in the studio that recorded that voice at the time they were recording it.
Somehow that sounded so much cooler before I wrote it down...
TLP, I have decided that art is something that I can not paint myself. Al those circles and squares...I am not calling that art. There was actually a painting that looked like the ones I painted when I was 5.
